Position Summary:
The Philanthropy Manager supports the fundraising goals of Naples Botanical Garden by leading donor pipeline management, overseeing mid-level giving strategies, and ensuring high-quality donor communications. This role plays a key part in strengthening the Garden’s philanthropic culture and advancing mission-driven development efforts. A strong team player, the Philanthropy Manager must be a collaborative partner across departments and within the Development team. This is an on-site position.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborates with the Director of Development, Database team, and external consultants to implement and maintain a robust donor pipeline management system. Utilizing donor pipeline systems, oversees and moves management tracking for the Philanthropy team, ensuring prioritized, timely, and strategic donor engagement. Utilizes CRM tools, wealth screening, and donor research to support effective prospect identification and solicitation strategies. Supervises a growing team of mid-level philanthropy officers and development coordinators. Experience in qualifying donors for portfolio placement and removal. Actively contributes to all Development team meetings and co-leads bi-weekly Philanthropy Team meetings, with a focus on advancing moves management strategy and accountability. Drafts and produces donor communications, including personalized acknowledgment letters, gift proposals, and gift agreements for the Director of Development, Chief Revenue Officer, and President’s Office. Partners with Development Operations to ensure donor records, contact reports, and prospect data are accurately maintained. Supports the DOD in creation and execution of annual and multi-year, capital fundraising strategies. Collaborates with Visitor Operations and Membership teams on donor events and visits, as needed. Prepares regular progress reports and dashboards for DOD’s review. Participate in donor meetings and events as needed, representing the Garden’s mission and priorities. Builds and maintains a portfolio of institutional and individual donors, seeking solicitations of $50,000+ per Fiscal Year, with intent to grow. Manages and maintains mailings and activities for the Perennial Legacy Society, the Garden’s planned giving program.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required with 4-6 years’ equivalent work experience. Non-profit Development experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Minimum 1 year experience with a CRM; Raiser’s Edge NXT database data entry/management experience preferred. Ability to obtain Raiser’s Edge NXT Fundamentals certification within 2 months of employment. Experience in donor and member-related events. Available to work nights and weekends, when required. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Seeks clarification when needed and responds well to questions. Professional personal presentation. Manages difficult situations and responds promptly with a solution. Maintains confidentiality. Excellent listening and interpersonal skills. Good attendance and punctuality. Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent. Able to multi-task, complete tasks on time and use time wisely. Pre-employment background check required.
