This position focuses on cultivating strong relationships with school families, alumni, local businesses, and the broader community to support the school’s mission and financial goals. The ideal candidate is relationship-driven, highly organized, creative, and shares the school’s Christian values.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Fundraising & Development:
- Create, manage, and execute the Annual Fund Campaign with a fundraising goal of $90,000 annually.
- Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of a successful annual gala event with a fundraising goal of $90,000.
- Identify, cultivate, and steward major donor prospects within the school community and beyond.
- Develop and grow business partnerships with school families and local businesses to support the school through sponsorships that align with the school’s mission and fundraising needs.
- Maintain an accurate and detailed record of all gifts and provide the Executive Leadership Team, Board of Trustees, and Parent Association monthly updates on progress.
Event Planning & Community Engagement:
- Plan, organize, and execute school-sponsored events that foster community and support development efforts, including but not limited to Grandparent and Special Friends’ Day, Parent Association Events, Alumni Events, and various school events such as the annual gala.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for event logistics, sponsorship opportunities, and fundraising components related to these events.
- Attend school events and serve as a visible, approachable representative of the school community.
Relationship Building:
- Build and nurture meaningful relationships with students, current and prospective families, grandparents, alumni, and community members to cultivate a culture of philanthropy.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and its broader constituency, ensuring consistent communication, engagement, and expressions of gratitude.
Communications & Marketing Support:
- Work collaboratively with the Head of School and the Communications team to create compelling messaging, materials, and campaigns to support fundraising initiatives.
- Assist in creating content for newsletters, annual reports, social media, and development-related communications.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Fundraising and event planning experience required
- Proven ability to cultivate donor relationships and secure financial commitments
- Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills
- Ability to engage and inspire a wide range of constituents
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with professionalism, flexibility, and positivity Physical Requirements The physical demands of this position vary on a daily basis.
On some days, extensive time may be spent sitting at a desk. Other days may require standing, walking, lifting, event preparation, and breakdown. Hiring and Firing Responsibilities The Director of Development has the express authority to hire and fire all positions that this position supervises, in consultation with the Head of School.
