Position Overview:
The Director of Development is responsible for leading, managing, and growing the Fuller Center’s fundraising program, including annual giving, monthly giving, major gifts, corporate and foundation relations, planned giving, donor stewardship, special events, and advancement marketing efforts. This position ensures the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors, develops strategic plans for donor engagement, and supports a culture of philanthropy across the organization. Bonus consideration will be given to candidates with experience using Bloomerang and QGiv, a CFRE certification, and a minimum of 5 years of successful fundraising experience. ________________________________________
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Management Ownership of Fuller Center’s largest annual fundraising event, Wee Dream Ball. Develop and execute an integrated fundraising strategy focused on major gifts, planned giving, foundation, corporate, annual, and event fundraising. Foster and champion a culture of philanthropy throughout the Fuller Center organization and Board. Lead donor pipeline development by implementing a comprehensive Moves Management system. This includes Monthly and Event donors. Actively support and work closely with the CDO to identify, cultivate, and steward major donors and prospects. At discretion of CDO, the DOD will work with the CEO and Board, as applicable, on a donor-to-donor basis. Fundraising and Donor Relations Design and implement strategic special events, stewardship events, and donor engagement opportunities. This includes Wee Dream Ball, Fuller Center’s largest annual fundraising event. Manage a personal portfolio of 50-100 major gift prospects with clear cultivation and solicitation plans, including Event follow-up. Identify, research, and cultivate prospective donors across individuals, corporations, and foundations. Secure 2-5 planned gifts annually; lead efforts to grow the Fuller Center’s planned giving program. Design and develop compelling case materials for donor meetings, events, and campaigns. Supervise creation and tracking of the Annual Appeal and monthly giving programs. Works with Public Relations, Marketing, and Communication division on fundraising appeals, messaging, and strategy. Actively pursue corporate sponsorships in collaboration with Corporate Relations Manager and advancement staff. Work closely with program staff to leverage on-campus events for cultivation purposes (e.g., graduations, plays, STEAM events, holiday drives). Database Management, Reporting, and Stewardship Oversee accurate and timely entry of donor information, gift processing, acknowledgment letters, and donor stewardship in Bloomerang or other CRM systems. Ability to utilize applications within Bloomerang (queries, reports, automations) is a must. Monthly audit of donor database for accuracy and alignment with accounting systems. Generate reports to track donor cultivation activities, solicitation progress, and revenue results, per campaign. Manage donor recognition programs including donor walls, special acknowledgments, and stewardship reports. Creation of donor affinity groups desired. Oversee management and marketing of the Adopt-a-Class program. Develop and maintain stewardship plans ensuring timely acknowledgment, recognition, and reporting. Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations Support Advancement-related content for marketing, website, direct mail, newsletters, and social media. Oversee production of collateral such as the Annual Report, donor newsletters, and special digital campaign materials. Maintain and enhance Fuller Center’s profiles on charity evaluator platforms such as GuideStar and Charity Navigator. Develop scripts and training materials for donor campus tours; lead tours as needed. ________________________________________
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or certification (e.g., CFRE) preferred. Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated success in nonprofit fundraising, with emphasis on major gifts, planned giving, and annual campaigns. Bloomerang CRM experience highly desirable. CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) certification preferred or equivalent experience. Strong knowledge of fundraising principles, planned giving, Moves Management, and donor stewardship best practices. Proven success in leading major fundraising campaigns and securing major and planned gifts. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality, discretion, and diplomacy. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and donor research tools. Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary for donor events and cultivation activities. Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Ability to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods. Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. Frequent use of hands, arms, and close vision tasks such as typing and reading reports.
