International Development Senior Manager Position Summary:
Manage, motivate and empower fundraising team to reach both the organization’s and department’s strategic and financial goals, while continually identifying and implementing improved process for donor qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. The Manager is also responsible for maintaining and increasing funding from major donors with an emphasis on high touch donors capable of giving $100,000 annually through effective identification, cultivation and solicitation to deepen long-term relationships built on a firm understanding of donor interests, passions and values.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Fundraising (50%) Manage donor portfolio of 40-50 donors Play lead role in soliciting and closing major gifts Conduct 20-25 donor visits annually Act as primary relationship manager for individual donors and prospects to reach or exceed annual funding goals Manage campaign and communication stream to major donors in assigned region through thoughtful review of campaign/annual report mailing lists Analyze portfolio and strategize upgrades with an custom cultivation strategy for key donors Develop strategic one-off funding requests based on short, intermediate and long-term funding goals for key donors Plan and implement appropriate offerings such as office visit/tour, mission and vision trips, company/church involvement, friend and family campaigns, receptions, gatherings and other events and activities Facilitate donors’ access to executive team and other departments Actively thank donors for support through review of weekly gift reports Call and welcome major donors within a week of receiving them into region Include personal notes with updates to key donors Monitor and uphold set process protocol for organization and department related to donor records and accurate documentation of all interactions with donors Fundraising Team Leadership (50%) Strategize with International Development Officers to solicit major gifts from key donors Provide coaching and mentoring to International Development Officers to create cultivation strategies for top 25 donors and routinely review action towards goals Lead, manage, support and evaluate up to 4 development officers and participate in the establishment and evaluation of their annual goals and performance. Analyze statistics to determine support needs and success of individual officers. Conduct weekly or bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with development officers to review activity towards goals Assist Senior Manager to implement programs for major gifts staff professional development and progress tracking Act as liaison between Senior Manager and development officers by sharing donor and IDO feedback, updating fundraising team on funding priorities, and monitor and analyze donor trends and needs as observed and reported by officers and provide feedback to Senior Staff.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Require/Preferred:
Ability to be an effective team member, motivator and team leader A sound working knowledge of fundraising principles Sensitive to Christian-based fundraising Proven success in fundraising, strategic planning and execution of major gifts campaigns Proven ability to work remotely and effectively with donors and as part of a development team Proven ability to work independently and take initiative in effectively communicating Cross’ major donor projects and goals Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and resolve problems quickly Excellent oral and written communication skills, in English, as well as Superior interpersonal, organizational and motivational skills Familiarity with donor/customer database management and online fundraising tools is required. Strong technical skills and proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, is strongly desired Commitment to professional ethics in working with highly confidential, sensitive information. Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to respond adeptly to rapidly changing priorities and ability to work well under pressure. Ability to travel domestically, including the South Florida main office several times a year for meetings, and individual donor visits and gatherings as needed. Ability to accompany donors and staff on international vision/mission trips to visit Cross projects in developing countries.
Experience Requirements:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in non-profit development with at least 3 years in major gifts.
