- DeLand is a vital and interactive visual arts museum dedicated to the collecting, preservation, display, and educational use of the fine arts.
In addition to its Permanent Collection, the Museum is host to rotating exhibitions and related educational programming. Community members of every age, from pre-K to adult, participate in a wide range of lifelong learning programs developed and implemented by Museum staff and partnered educators. The Museum of Art

Working closely with museum leadership and the Board of Trustees, the Director of Development will cultivate
meaningful relationships with current and prospective donors to expand support for exhibitions, education
programs, and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring a results-oriented approach, a high level of
integrity, and the ability to inspire greater engagement across the community. This is an opportunity for a
motivated and mission-aligned professional to play a vital role in shaping the Museum’s future and advancing
its impact throughout the region.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan that supports both programmatic initiatives and general operating expenses, including capital campaign and endowment planning and implementation.
- Design and lead a comprehensive institutional giving strategy, including the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of major donors, foundations, and government grant-makers. Prepare compelling proposals and maintain strong relationships with funders to support operational, endowment, and capital campaign goals.
- Build and manage a robust donor relations program, including ongoing engagement with the Board of Trustees. Work closely with the Executive Director and board leadership to cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors at all levels.
- Provide strategic direction and hands-on support for the Executive Director’s fundraising activities. Collaborate across departments and with the Board to maximize philanthropic opportunities and align development efforts with the Museum’s mission and vision.
- Work closely with staff and volunteers to plan, coordinate, and execute donor cultivation events and community fundraising initiatives that enhance visibility and support.
- Oversee public sector fundraising and relationships, securing support from local, state, and federal government agencies. Identify and engage community stakeholders and institutional partners to strengthen the Museum’s network and reach.
- Actively cultivate relationships with individuals and organizations that can serve as ambassadors, advocates, and supporters of the Museum’s mission and fundraising goals. Skills

- Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Suite and Google Workspace, and CRM/fundraising databases.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and deal with unexpected crises in an effective and efficient manner.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
- Impactful storyteller with accomplished verbal, written, and interpersonal skills as well as a sophisticated approach to relationship-building. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Interest in and experience with the arts a significant plus.
- Experience
- Two or more years of fund development. Proven track record of achieving revenue targets.
- Ability to think strategically and ability to cultivate and manage relationships.
- Strong verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.
- Must also have the ability to work professionally with a diverse group of people to develop and fulfill fundraising strategies to advance the museum’s profile in the community and region and maximize the resource development efforts. Compensation and Benefits
Salary:
$30,000
- Health Insurance Stipend (taxable): $198 per month
- Life Insurance (Employer Paid): $10,000
Paid Vacation:
1-3 years employment employee is entitled to two times normal work week annually, after 3 years employee is entitled to three times normal work week annually, after 10 years employee is entitled to four times normal work week annually
(unused annual carryover up to 2 times employee’s work week)
