This position is not limited to planning or oversight but requires hands-on execution of all fundraising activities to ensure goals are met. The Director will personally lead and carry out the fundraising strategies for individual, corporate, foundation, government, and faith-based donors. This role includes identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors; writing, submitting, and tracking grant proposals and reports; managing monthly donor and planned giving programs; and directly executing special events and public relations activities. The Director is accountable for achieving fundraising results and for managing the Development Department staff in support of fundraising and marketing goals aligned with the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana’s strategic plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and implement a comprehensive fundraising program to meet the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana’s $3.5 million annual revenue goal.
- Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies for individual, corporate, foundation, government, and planned giving donors.
- Personally identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects and donors.
- Write and submit grant proposals, track reporting deadlines, and ensure compliance with funder requirements.
- Manage monthly donor and planned giving programs to maximize sustainable revenue.
- Execute an ongoing donor engagement and stewardship plan, including recognition and relationship-building activities.
- Oversee and implement direct mail fundraising campaigns, including donor segmentation, appeals, and result analysis.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and meaningful donor acknowledgements and communications.
- Develop relevant materials for donor engagement and fundraising campaigns, including case statements, proposals, and marketing collateral.
- Maintain accurate and current donor records in the CRM system (Donor Perfect).
- Maintain strong ongoing relationships with past and current donors to encourage continued and increased giving.
- Supervise and lead Development Department staff in support of fundraising execution (not delegation of core fundraising responsibilities).
- Develop, monitor, and achieve the department’s annual and long-range fundraising and marketing performance objectives.
- Track and report on fundraising performance regularly to the Executive Director.
- Maintain awareness of legislative issues related to hunger relief and assist in the organization’s advocacy efforts when appropriate.
- Represent the Food Bank publicly with corporations, foundations, organizations, and community groups through face-to-face presentations.
- Accept and perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- Minimum six years of demonstrated success in personally executing comprehensive development programs.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding significant fundraising goals through direct effort, including securing major gifts, grants, and corporate support.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field required.
- CFRE certification (or in progress) preferred.
- Experience in successful grant writing and reporting.
- Expertise in CRM databases (experience with Donor Perfect highly desirable).
- Strong skills in time management, project execution, presentation, and public speaking.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with public relations, community engagement, and marketing strategies.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
- High attention to detail, confidentiality, and sound judgment in donor and organizational matters.
- Must be highly motivated, self-directed, and results-oriented.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Must maintain a valid Louisiana Driver’s License and provide proof of personal vehicle insurance.
- Must be insurable under the organization’s driving policy.
Ability to lift 25-30 pounds occasionally
