Director of Financial Resource Development Greensboro Jewish Federation 5509 West Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27410 Position Summary The Director of Financial Resource Development (FRD) is a key member of our leadership team, responsible for sustaining and growing the Federation’s impact in our small but vibrant community. This position focuses heavily on managing and growing the Annual Campaign through individual giving, fundraising events, and corporate sponsorships and grants. The Director of FRD will build strong donor relationships and foster a culture of philanthropy that sustains Jewish life locally, in Israel, and around the world. The Director of FRD will be charged with developing and building strategic fundraising initiatives that align with the Federation’s mission and organizational priorities and will ensure the long-term strength and sustainability of the Greensboro Jewish community. The Director of FRD manages a committed team focused on development, engagement, and outreach efforts and works closely with volunteer leadership. Key Responsibilities Annual Campaign Leadership Develop and lead the strategy for the Federation’s annual campaign, including goal setting and tracking, division segmentation, affinity groups, materials, timelines, volunteer recruitment, solicitor training, donor outreach, matching gifts, and stewardship. Personally manage a portfolio of donors and prospects ($1,000 – $10,000), with a focus on cultivation, solicitation, and securing annual support through traditional and supplementary giving. Organize and support volunteer leaders in fundraising efforts through campaign divisions, affinity groups, peer-to-peer solicitations, events, and donor recognition. Plan, coordinate, and execute excellent fundraising events throughout the campaign cycle, in partnership with volunteer leaders and Federation staff. Identify and cultivate relationships with local businesses and corporate partners to support the Annual Campaign through event sponsorship and grants. Donor Engagement & Communications Build meaningful relationships with donors at all giving levels, connecting them to the Federation’s mission and impact. Oversee donor recognition efforts and ensure timely, meaningful stewardship that enhances retention and engagement. Proactively utilize resources and opportunities connected with Jewish Federations of North America and ensure Federation staff and volunteers are informed about cohort-based learning, professional development, missions, conferences, and tools to enhance our work at the local level. Partner with staff and volunteers to craft compelling campaign messaging, materials, thank- yous, and impact reports that fosters a culture of philanthropy. Actively identify and engage new prospects, broadening support for Federation’s mission. Maintain a visible presence in the community, attending events and acting as an ambassador of the Federation in Jewish communal life. Leadership & Collaboration Partner with the CEO, Board, and volunteer leaders to develop an FRD plan that includes annual, supplemental, endowment, and legacy gifts and enables the Federation to achieve strategic goals and meet identified community needs. Supervise and mentor development and engagement staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and team success. Collaborate with marketing and finance teams by supporting campaign messaging, impact reporting, and budget planning/monitoring to ensure achievement of FRD goals. Develop attractive corporate sponsorship packages and opportunities that enable expanded support from existing and new partners. Assist in grant writing, stewardship, and reporting with current and prospective private and family Foundations and other local and national grant sources. Collaborate with CEO and other departments to develop and implement missions. Data Management & Reporting Utilize Salesforce CRM system to record donor information, track donor activity, and monitor campaign progress. Generate reports for internal and external stakeholders and utilize performance metrics to assess progress toward goals and make data-driven decisions. Provide campaign volunteers and the Board of Trustees with regular, timely, and accurate reports to guide solicitation and stewardship efforts. Analyze fundraising metrics to guide strategy and decision-making. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE certification a plus. At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, development, or community engagement—nonprofit or Jewish communal experience preferred. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage donors and build trust. Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple responsibilities and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proven ability to plan and execute events (including travel) and engage corporate sponsors. Experienced manager who enjoys supervising and coaching direct reports and working collaboratively as part of a staff team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders. In-depth understanding of the professional-volunteer relationship and expertise in managing these relationships effectively and partnering with volunteer leaders. Ability to use good judgement, professionalism, and diplomacy when handling sensitive and/or confidential matters. Willing to work nights and weekends and travel on missions and to conferences, as needed. Knowledge of and passion for Jewish values, traditions, and communal life. Familiarity with Salesforce CRM, MS office suite products, and general competency with social media and e-communication technology.
