Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Erie Community College Foundation is dedicated to advancing the educational mission of SUNY Erie by engaging in strategic fundraising initiatives, managing and developing student scholarship programs, and maintaining an emergency support fund for students in need.
Essential Functions:
This position is responsible for advancing our mission by cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors, securing sponsorships, and enhancing philanthropic engagement. This individual will play a key role in growing the Foundation’s fundraising capacity and impact, particularly through the development of major gifts and sponsorships for events and initiatives.
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit gifts from individuals, alumni, businesses, and foundations
- Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan in collaboration with senior leadership to increase revenue and achieve our organizational goals.
- Secure sponsorships, in-kind support, and raffle items for events, including the annual Golf Classic and other fundraising programs
- Collaborate with Foundation and SUNY Erie staff to align fundraising priorities with institutional needs
- Create compelling donor communications, proposals, and impact reports
- Accurately document all donor interactions and activities in the Foundation’s donor database (preferably Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge)
- Stay up to date with best practices in non-profit fundraising, including emerging trends, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Assist in planning and executing donor events, cultivation events and other events
- Represent the Foundation at community, college, and donor events as needed Fundraising and events
- Build and manage a portfolio of a minimum of 75-100 gift prospects and donors
- Implement strategic donor stewardship plans to retain and grow donor relationships
- Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan in collaboration with senior leadership to increase revenue and achieve our organizational goals.
- Create, update and manage records in donor database (Blackbaud Award Management)
- Develop and implement College Support Fund which awards grants to college priorities/academic initiatives,
- All other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in a related field preferred (nonprofit management, business, communications, etc.)
- Minimum of 3-7 years of experience in fundraising, major gift solicitation, donor stewardship, and securing event sponsorships or in-kind donations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Adapts in order to work effectively in ambiguous situations, and with diverse individuals and/or changing priorities.
- Contact corporate representatives, government officials, or community leaders to increase awareness of organizational causes, activities, or needs.
- Attend community events, meetings, or conferences to promote organizational goals or solicit donations or sponsorships.
- Attention to detail – demonstrates concern for thoroughness and accuracy
- Skilled in working effectively with leadership, board members, colleagues, and volunteers
- Experience using Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM systems preferred
- Exceptional Customer Service skills and professional image to both internal and external customers Ability to work effectively with both superiors, board members, co-workers and volunteers Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of the work Flexible schedule and ability to work extra hours as needed
- Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding fundraising goals
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strengths in relationship-building and project management
- Passion for education, equity, and community engagement
- Ability to cross-train others
- Local travel is required to meet donors
