The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (“the Foundation”) is seeking top talent for its Direct Response Lead position. This role oversees a $28 million revenue program ranging from $1 to $1 million donations through giving opportunities derived from direct call-to-action channels. This role leads strategic vision for the donor messaging opportunities, fundraising tactics, and a full annual plan of activations to secure contributions. This position closely partners with internal stakeholders to provide expert strategic vision and oversight to grow a $28 million program engaging over 70k donors year over year. This role coordinates across the team to ensure marketing channels and fundraising strategies are uniquely identified and tailored to meet fundraising goals for all portfolios with specific attention to Annual Giving, Planned Giving, and Major Gift revenues.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead Direct Response project through Annual Plans by analyzing past performance, advocating for new or expanded projects, and incorporating growth and investment opportunities Set goals and key performance indicators for the entire Direct Response program and each individual project that correlate and support the Development Business Unit’s top North Star, Key Results, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Champion, inspire vision and follow through each Direct Response project from start to finish, ensuring that the project hits its revenue and donor engagement goals and meets all stakeholder needs related to Direct Response, including: Mass market fundraising Leadership and Major Gifts Planned Giving initiatives Dev-Wide campaign moments (PAM, Mid-Year, and Year-end projects) Provide leadership and create strategies for online and offline giving options that retain and convert all donors Partners with Fundraising Analytics to build data, dashboards, and reports that demonstrate programmatic goals and KPIs with regular monitoring and reporting on progress to goal Evaluate the success and progress of direct response efforts and refines business tactics Collaborate with Project Management team to identify start and completion dates for each Direct Response project, notating resources needed and partner overlap. Advocate for and lead appropriate working sessions, deliverables, and final project plans Lead recommendations and execution of fundraising strategies aligned with past performance and new opportunities in partnership with all portfolio areas with proper stakeholder engagement Create partnerships with internal stakeholders to improve messaging, creative visuals, and execution possibilities within Direct Response fundraising campaigns and ensure continuity in donor experience for all portfolios Enhance and lead digital revenue opportunities by leveraging Fundraising Operations Technology to incorporate conversion and communication tools into Direct Response program efforts For Direct Response programs, act and lead as designated Subject Matter Expert for all audience, messaging, and fundraising CTAs Oversight of Project Budget allocation, overspend and underspend for each project area In partnership with Donor Marketing, leverage and manage external stakeholders appropriately, including agencies for Direct Mail, Digital Testing, and Paid Media Collaborate with Donor Marketing team members to infuse non-revenue engagement opportunities between fundraising appeals, including but not limited to donor surveys, story gathering requests, funding reports, and Parkinson’s disease community impact stories Strategize, expand, create or collaborate on donor gratitude deliverables, including emails, cards, letters, and multimedia presentations
Qualifications and Skills:
Proven experience in marketing fundraising, or nonprofit management Proven experience leading a progressive, successful, and complex direct response / marketing program. An equivalent combination of education and work experience will also be considered Proven track record in multi-channel direct response fundraising with knowledge of marketing channel tactics used for fundraising and donor engagement Proven experience leading and managing vendors, specifically in direct mail Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with internal and external partners Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially for stakeholder and executive level communications Ability to manage revenue goals for a $28 million program, anticipate revenue achievement through forecasting, and manage budget allocation of expenses of $1+ million Data driven with strong analytical skills and experience working with database teams Familiarity with development and fundraising techniques for various donor groups and levels Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Proactive with a keen attention to detail; must be accurate, dependable, and able to consistently meet deadlines Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and fundraising technology and databases (such as Salesforce, DOMO, Classy, Gratavid, etc.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $115,000 – $135,000. In addition to salary, The Michael J.
