We’re building the kinds of spaces we’ve longed for — places of connection, healing, learning, and truth-telling. Through peer support, storytelling, LGBTQ+ education, and community-based mental health advocacy, we help LGBTQ+ people feel seen, held, and empowered — while working to transform the systems that care for us. Our vision for LGBTQ+ healing is rooted in diagnosing and treating both external and internal barriers to wellness. While many organizations do vital external work — fighting legislation, supporting housing, organizing pride — we also center what happens inside: the internalized shame, homophobia, transphobia, racism, and grief we carry. This is both external and internal work. Real liberation means healing inside and out. Internal healing + external action = a strong, resilient (but also tender and thriving) LGBTQ+ community. Less suffering, more love. That’s the dream. Our work is grounded in lived experience, community collaboration, and the understanding that healing isn’t linear — it’s layered, raw, and deeply human. We’re learning as we go, building frameworks from grassroots mentorship, online training, and hands-on practice. We are deeply committed to heart-led leadership, collective care, and community healing.

Our values are:

Rooted in connection, Grounded in truth, Empowered by love, Led with bravery, and Held in vulnerability. About the

Role:

Director of Advancement The Director of Advancement will lead our fundraising, communications, and partnership efforts with creativity, clarity, and care. This person will play a key role in ensuring our work remains sustainable and visible by cultivating donor relationships, leading grassroots and grant-based fundraising efforts, and shaping the public voice of our organization. This is a volunteer position with a time commitment of 3-5 hours per week . You’ll help us build the village that supports this work — through campaigns that center dignity, storytelling that reflects our values, and partnerships that align with our mission. Your work will allow us to deepen our roots, expand our reach, and care for our people — both within the organization and in the broader community. A Note from Chandler, Executive Director Hi — I’m Chandler, founder of Built For Us PGH. We’re doing something different here: building not just programs, but culture. I’m looking for someone who knows how to fundraise and communicate with soul — who’s not afraid to center joy, care, and clarity in their strategy. This work is tender and urgent — and we’re ready to grow, together. Key Responsibilities Design and lead fundraising strategies (grants, grassroots campaigns, major donors, etc.) Develop and steward donor relationships and partnerships rooted in shared values Oversee grant identification, writing, and reporting (with ED support) Shape and implement a communications strategy that reflects our voice and values Craft social media, newsletters, donor messaging, and outreach materials Build systems to track donations, grant deadlines, and funder engagement Support the planning of fundraising events or campaigns Represent the organization at external events and networking opportunities Attend regular leadership meetings and collaborate with the team to align growth with mission This is a volunteer position and does not receive financial compensation at this time.
