Position Summary:

The Director of Development for The Jewish Association on Aging will serve as a lead frontline fundraiser and strategic partner. This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of 100+ major and planned gift prospects, identifying and building a pipeline for upcoming initiatives, and supporting the organization’s Campaign and long-term fundraising goals. This position is a self-starter and has demonstrated success in capital campaign execution, direct donor solicitation, and planned giving strategy, and is energized by building meaningful donor relationships that result in transformative support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of 100-125 major gift and planned giving prospects.
  • Collaborate with campaign leadership, board members, and staff to advance fundraising strategies and solicit five-, six- and seven-figure gifts.
  • Partner in the planning and execution of the capital campaign, including prospect pipeline development, donor engagement strategies, and progress tracking
  • Prepare compelling donor proposals and campaign communications that align with campaign priorities.
  • Engage donors in conversations around planned giving, including bequests, charitable trusts, and other deferred giving vehicles.
  • Provide support to organization leadership in conversations with prospects for principal gifts.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of donor interactions in the organization’s CRM system.
  • Represent the organization at campaign and donor-related events, briefings, and meetings.
  • Contribute to a culture of philanthropy across the organization, supporting leadership and board members in their fundraising efforts.
  • Frequently attends/participates in off-site meetings/events.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, with direct experience in major gifts, campaign strategy, and planned giving. Must be familiar with various gifting techniques and comfortable discussing assets with donors, donor families and professional advisors.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure gifts of $100,000 and above, and lead donors through the giving cycle.
  • Ability to quickly master the subject matter required to discuss the mission of the organization and the relevant giving opportunities.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of planned giving vehicles and ability to guide donors in structuring their gifts.
  • Highly focused and organized with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must include three professional references upon application; past supervisor, colleague and donor preferred.
Preferred Education, Training and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree, CFRE, or other professional certification is a plus.
  • Experience managing or supporting capital or comprehensive campaigns of $5M+.
  • Familiarity with donor databases such as Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or similar.
  • Comfort engaging with high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and philanthropic advisors.
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle for transportation.
