Immediate About Trident Literacy Association Trident Literacy Association (TLA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting adult literacy and lifelong learning across the Lowcountry. We serve individuals seeking to improve their reading, writing, math, digital literacy, and workforce skills—empowering them to achieve their educational and career goals. Position Summary The Director of Development will lead all fundraising and development efforts for Trident Literacy Association, with a special emphasis on grants management, donor engagement, and community partnerships. This role is responsible for building a sustainable development strategy to support our mission, working closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors. Key Responsibilities Grants Management Research, write, and submit grant proposals to private foundations, government entities, and corporate funders Track deadlines, reporting requirements, and outcomes Maintain a robust grant calendar and database Individual & Corporate Giving Cultivate and steward relationships with current and prospective donors Oversee annual giving campaigns, special appeals, and donor acknowledgments Develop corporate sponsorship opportunities and partnerships Events & Communications Plan and execute small- to mid-sized fundraising and donor engagement events Collaborate on social media, newsletters, and impact communications to support fundraising goals Strategic Development Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet organizational goals Provide monthly reports and updates to the Executive Director and Board Work collaboratively across departments to align messaging and outcomes Qualifications Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a strong track record in grant writing and donor development Excellent written and verbal communication skills Highly organized, self-motivated, and results-driven Experience with donor databases (e.g., Bloomerang, Little Green Light, etc.) is a plus Passion for adult literacy, education, and community development Why Join Us?
