Overall Job Purpose:

As a member of the Landmarks for Families development team, the Major Gifts Officer plays a critical role in advancing the organization’s strategic priorities through personalized engagement, compelling storytelling, and values-based fundraising. This role is responsible for cultivating and stewarding relationships with individual donors and prospects capable of making significant philanthropic contributions. Job Responsibilities:

Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospects. In collaboration with the CEO and VP of Development, the Major Gifts Officer will craft presentations and proposals as needed and participate in donor acquisition and recognition opportunities designed to engage major donors and increase annual giving support. Manage a portfolio of 75-100 major donors and prospects. Develop and implement individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans to increase annual support. Ensure timely recognition of donor gifts in collaboration with the development team, CEO, and Board as appropriate. Collaborate with the CEO, Leadership Team, and program staff to craft compelling funding opportunities aligned with donor interests. Stay informed about organizational programs and priorities to effectively communicate impact. Track and report on all donor interactions in Raiser’s Edge; ensure timely follow-up and acknowledgement. Ensure information in Raiser’s Edge is accurate and up to date for assigned constituents. Support department and organizational initiatives, special campaigns, donor fundraising events, and promote the mission of the organization. Other duties as assigned.

Contacts:

Extensive contact with the community with specific focus on individual and corporate donors, the media, Board members and volunteers. Has contact with all levels of staff within the organization.

Decision Making Authority :

Must be able to make effective decisions regarding strategies for increasing donor support of the agency.

Functional Knowledge :

Knowledge of fundraising and marketing strategies. Proficient in the use of Raiser’s Edge, Canva, Microsoft Office suite, and general computer skills. Ability to write successful proposals, solicitations, appeals, and reports. Knowledge of budget development and effective management techniques is a plus.

Education and Specific Training :

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related field. Master’s Degree preferred. CFRE or extensive coursework/training in fundraising preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in fundraising with experience in soliciting major gifts. Proven success in donor cultivation and solicitation. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to manage multiple priorities and relationships with discretion and professionalism. Strategic thinker with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
