Position Summary:
The Nickelodeon seeks a dynamic, results-driven Membership & Development Manager to lead our individual giving and membership efforts with creativity, rigor, and purpose. This is a key role that builds sustainable contributed revenue, stewards meaningful relationships, and cultivates a thriving community of supporters. The Membership & Development Manager will be responsible for day-to-day development activities, including member and donor communications, gift processing, event coordination, and data management, while contributing to a welcoming and engaging experience for supporters at every level. The ideal candidate is organized, curious, a strong communicator, and excited to learn and grow in a collaborative nonprofit arts environment.
Core Responsibilities:
Membership (40%) Design, implement, and continuously evaluate a comprehensive membership strategy focused on growth, retention, and deepening engagement across all audience segments Oversee member communications, benefits, renewals, and database management Collaborate with marketing on targeted campaigns and branding for membership tiers Conceive and produce compelling members-only experiences, events, and touchpoints that reinforce loyalty and reflect the Nick’s mission Monitor, analyze, and report on key membership performance indicators; use data insights to inform strategy and drive continual improvement Fund Development (40%) Support the planning and execution of core fundraising initiatives, including annual appeals, Giving Tuesday, and year-end giving campaigns, ensuring timely rollout and strong donor response Assist in developing and implementing donor cultivation and stewardship strategies, including managing the donor database Write compelling fundraising materials, including appeal letters, impact reports, and fundraising communications, that effectively convey the Nick’s vision, values, and impact Collaborate on sponsorship proposals and grant applications Manage and maintain strong systems for gift acknowledgment and tracking Events & Community Engagement (15%) Plan, produce, and execute strategic donor cultivation events, receptions, and experiences that reinforce connection to the Nick’s mission and deepen philanthropic engagement Represent the Nick at community events, partner gatherings, and cultural programs to expand the organization’s network and foster new donor and member relationships Support staff and board development efforts through strategic engagement Reporting & Administration (5%) Prepare clear, timely, and actionable monthly reports on membership and fundraising performance for executive leadership and the Board of Directors Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor and member records Coordinate closely with finance staff to reconcile contributions, ensure proper gift tracking, and support accurate financial reporting and audit readiness
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience in development, membership, or donor relations Proficiency with donor management systems and fundraising tools Strong project management and organizational skills Exceptional communication, writing, and interpersonal skills Comfort with evening/weekend work for occasional events Passion for the arts, community building, and audience development
