Job Title:

VP Of Development Reports to CEO Position Summary/Objective Habitat Broward is hiring a Vice President of Development to lead fundraising efforts in support of affordable housing efforts throughout Broward.

Summary:

The Vice President of Development will lead the fundraising and development efforts. Must have a strategic mindset, strong leadership skills, a commitment to collaboration and communication, and a keen understanding of the organization’s mission. The VP must have a passion and an understanding of the impact of affordable housing on local families and be able to communicate that passion to persons he/she connects with. The VP must adhere to the organization’s Core Values. In a new position in the organization.

Areas of Responsibility and Essential Duties:

Creates and executes a strategy for a large, sustained base of annual donors, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of those who are identified as interested in Habitat Broward’s mission. Create, implement, and assess strategy for a portfolio of key funders and key principle donors above $100k along with leadership to facilitate relationships with stakeholders. Draft annual and multi-year fundraising projections and plans based on historical performance, current capabilities, and future economic trends. Develop written plans, goals, and strategies for achieving projected annual operating funds including opportunities to diversity funding. Provide ongoing analysis of progress toward fundraising goals using system-generated data. Oversee development strategy efforts in online fundraising, crowdsourcing, donor stewardship, gift entry and acknowledgment, database management, and donor research Increase funding through managing the donor relationship through the donor cycle, which involves identifying, researching, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individuals, businesses, and organizations. Creates and builds strong, lasting relationships with current and new donors, gaining trust and genuinely sharing the needs of the organization’s mission. Self-motivated and works independently, sets up various meetings and tours with prospects while making introductions with CEO to share stories and passion for our mission. Prepares for and makes the ask for financial gifts, security solid funding to help those we serve. Verify compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and accreditation standards, maintaining accountability to donors and ensuring compliance with code of ethical principles and standards of professional conduct for fundraising executives. Oversee and drive a successful foundation grant and reporting program. Establishes and helps secure endowment, laying the foundation for future generations. Works with the Board Development Committee to motivate and give direction on fundraising needs and goals. Build and expand the pipeline of foundations, partners, donors, and relationships to further drive impactful and effective organizational philanthropic growth. Works with the Marketing Manager to oversee donor communications to keep donors engaged and abreast of happenings. Oversees any and all event committees. Leads Annual End of Year Giving, Giving Tuesday, and other fundraising campaigns. Oversee and drive an effective direct mail strategy coordinated with HFHI to maximize local campaigns.

Key Qualifications:

Individuals must share a commitment to the organization’s mission and vision; experience in nonprofit is an advantage. Relationship management skills with 5+ years of experience in fundraising in a leadership capacity. Proven ability to lead strategic philanthropic programs such as donor acquisition, sponsorship, planned giving, major gifts, data management, direct mail and grant writing. Experience working with foundation and corporate partners, including identifying prospects, cultivating and stewarding relationships along with the strategic development of proposals. Financial management and budgeting skills. Prior experience effectively managing, mentoring, and motivating teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong editing skills Ability to articulate, express, and demonstrate persuasive proposals swiftly Time management and personal organization skills are essential to meet deadlines and manage multiple campaigns or projects simultaneously with sound decision-making skills. Ability to work cooperatively with and understand persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds. Ability to work effectively with teams with diverse learning styles and personalities; Ability to work independently, as well as with a team. Experience working in results-oriented, impact-driven, and fast-paced environments Strong computer and internet literacy skills; experience with CRM and project-management software preferred. Problem-solving and analytical skills for managing and segmenting data sets The position will require the ability to travel locally and work occasional evenings and weekends.
