Position Overview:
As the Assistant
GM / HVAC
Manager, you will support the General Manager in driving strategic growth, operational excellence, and profitability throughout the Florida Panhandle region. This critical leadership role combines hands-on management of our HVAC division with broader support of operations. You will be instrumental in optimizing day-to-day operations, building high-performing teams, ensuring customer satisfaction, and executing growth strategies. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader who embraces innovation, is passionate about team development, and demonstrates a proven ability to deliver results in the residential HVAC and service industries.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership:
Manage daily operations of the HVAC department while supporting plumbing and electrical service divisions. Ensure that Nexstar processes and best practices are followed across departments. Drive operational efficiencies, team productivity, and field performance. Maintain a strong field presence, interfacing regularly with technicians, project managers, and the executive leadership team.
Strategic Growth:
Collaborate with Ownership and the General Manager to implement long- and short-term growth strategies. Identify new business opportunities and foster innovation to stay ahead in the market. Monitor KPIs and ensure budgets, safety, quality, and profitability targets are met.
Team Building & Development:
Recruit, mentor, and retain high-performing teams across all service departments. Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment. Lead with integrity, building consensus and gaining buy-in from team members.
Customer Satisfaction:
Enhance the customer experience by ensuring quality workmanship and outstanding service delivery. Resolve escalated customer issues promptly and professionally.
Reporting & Compliance:
Provide Ownership with timely, accurate, and complete reports on company operations. Champion the development and continuous improvement of operational protocols and tools. Ensure adherence to all safety standards, codes, and regulations.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 7 years of verifiable, full-time management experience in residential HVAC operations. Working knowledge of residential HVAC methods, techniques, systems, and codes. Experience with Nexstar systems and processes (preferred). Strong leadership skills and prior success in building and leading high-performing teams. Ability to manage multiple departments and foster collaboration across service lines. Willingness to tackle new challenges, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset. Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass pre-employment background check. Familiarity with plumbing and electrical services (preferred but not required).
