Job Description
General Manager Straight Line Construction Ocala, FL 34471 We are seeking a proactive and strategic General Manager to lead the operations of our growing construction company, which handles a diverse range of projects—from bathroom and kitchen remodels to additions, barns, new construction, and commercial work. This role is ideal for a strong leader with a construction background who can foster a positive team culture, drive operational improvements, and work closely with ownership to ensure the company’s success and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide hands-on leadership to field and office teams, ensuring alignment with company values, expectations, and goals Train, mentor, and develop staff across all departments to build a high-performance, inclusive culture that values teamwork, accountability, and diversity Promote and maintain a positive work environment that supports employee retention, professional growth, and operational efficiency Identify process weaknesses, gaps in performance, or inefficiencies—and implement corrective actions proactively Meet regularly with the Owner/Founder to create a report structured meeting on key aspects of the business, including accounting summaries, sales performance, project management status, forecasting, and operating procedures Apply deep construction knowledge to support field teams, advise on project-related decisions, and ensure quality, safety, and compliance Serve as a primary point of contact for resolving concerns with professionalism and sound judgment. Use discretion and experience to determine when to negotiate with clients and when to stand firm, always with the company’s reputation and long-term relationships in mind Contribute to refining and enforcing company processes, systems, and standards Sales experience is a plus—ability to support business development, assist with close high level deals, or help refine sales strategy is valued
Qualifications:
Minimum “5” years of experience in the construction industry, with at least “2” years in a senior leadership or general management role Strong leadership and team-building skills with a demonstrated ability to foster culture and lead through change Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; confident in managing both internal teams and client relationships Solid understanding of both residential and commercial construction methods, codes, and operations Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and decision-making Ability to evaluate business performance and provide thoughtful recommendations to ownership Experience with company operations, reporting, and forecasting preferred Sales experience or business development background is a strong plus Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
