9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday – Friday; may work evenings and weekends as required by the Commissioner’s schedule of meetings, public events and/or urgent communication needs.
Other:
Valid Florida Driver’s License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
THIS IS AN AT-WILL POSITION.
District III is seeking a senior level administrative staffperson to assist the County Commissioner in the coordination of County governmental operations. This position is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies, managing media relations, overseeing social media engagement, and producing both internal and external communications. The employee must be a skilled writer, strategic thinker with a strong understanding of public communication in government or a public-facing environment. The employee will perform work involving responsibility for assigned phases of a wide variety of administrative functions and staff services. Responsibilities include serving as the lead communications professional for the Office of the Commissioner; drafting, editing and distributing press releases, official statements, talking points and media responses; managing the Office’s social media presence; coordinating with media outlets; developing and ensuring consistency in messaging; and other duties as assigned to support the functioning of the Office of the Commissioner.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science, or a related field from an accredited college or university; minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in communications, public relations , government affairs, or a similar field. Highly qualified candidates will have experience in managing social media accounts (Twitter/X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.) and will be bilingual (English/Spanish).
