Role Overview:

As an Entrepreneur In Residence, you will play a pivotal role in the ideation, development, and scaling of new startups within the technology sector. This unique position is ideal for seasoned entrepreneurs who possess a deep understanding of venture capital, private equity, and the startup ecosystem. The EIR will work closely with HawthorneVC’s investment team, leveraging their expertise to identify potential investment opportunities, mentor portfolio companies, and potentially lead one of the ventures.

Key Responsibilities:

Venture Creation:

Identify and evaluate new business opportunities within the technology sector, with a focus on creating scalable and innovative startups.

GTM Product Advancement:

Drive products forward by interviewing clients and prospects and turning that feedback directly into features with our software team!

Market Analysis:

Conduct comprehensive market research to understand industry trends, identify gaps in the market, and validate business ideas.

Business Strategy Development:

Develop and refine business models, go-to-market strategies, and growth tactics for potential ventures.

Investment Support:

Collaborate with HawthorneVC’s investment team to assess potential deals, providing insight and expertise to inform investment decisions.

Mentorship:

Offer guidance and mentorship to portfolio companies, sharing knowledge and experience to support their growth and success.

Networking:

Leverage and expand Hawthorne Capital’s network of entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts to support venture development and capital raise efforts.

Leadership Potential:

Prepare to take on a leadership role within a startup if a suitable opportunity arises, leading it from inception to market launch and beyond.

What We Look For:

Proven track record as a successful entrepreneur or product owner/manager, with experience in launching, scaling, and exiting startups. Deep understanding of the venture capital and private equity sectors, with a keen insight into trends, challenges, and opportunities. Strong analytical skills, capable of conducting market research, competitive analysis, and financial modeling. Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to develop innovative solutions and business strategies. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor founders and lead teams. Strong network within the venture capital, private equity, and startup ecosystems. Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to pivot based on market feedback and investment team insights. MBA or equivalent advanced degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of entrepreneurial experience, preferably within the technology sector. Previous involvement in venture capital, private equity, or a startup accelerator/incubator is highly desirable.
