We offer daily broom making workshops, bookbinding workshops, spelljar workshops, tarot readings and live performances — and crafting kits-to-go! The Assistant Manager will be responsible for assisting other employees in delivering exceptional customer service, managing the shop and its schedule, and performing administrative duties. Managers at The Witchery also instruct workshops from time to time and must be comfortable with and enthusiastic about taking the lead in any workshop or event – transferable experience in public speaking, teaching, or instructing is strongly preferred . The Assistant Manager will act as the main point of contact for customers and staff when the Manager is not present. The Witchery is a creative space through and through. All positions at The Witchery are subject to seasonal hours: This is a seasonal position that is expected to end min-November. One weekend day per week will be required through the season. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Oversee instruction of Witchery workshops (i.e. broom making, bookbinding workshops), instructing and supporting when applicable Guide patrons through their creative process to create meaningful crafts Assist with training all staff and teams to the fullest extent of the policies and procedures Delegate shop tasks, workshop assignments, and projects to staff and teams Maintain and upkeep documents, spreadsheets, and accounts relevant for shop functions and staff files, coordination Professionally enforce and communicate the official Workshop Policies with customers and staff Monitor online store and ensure efficient completion of shipments Run point of sale/cash register, conducting cash counts twice daily Log and allocate tips per the tips policy Preparing and maintaining merchandise, stock, and products Oversee the maintenance of shop cleanliness and organization Fielding customer inquiries in person, via phone call or email Sourcing stock, products, and tools Facilitate clear communication and updates to all staff, between staff and teams, and to upper management Report to management with updates, reviews, issues relating to product quality, performance, shop needs, etc. Provide Managers with support for delegated tasks, shifts, and projects as needed Required skills and qualifications: Strong public speaking and communication skills Group management and leadership skills Experience in providing patient and compassionate customer service Relevant teaching, instructing, presentation, public speaking experiences Strong attention to detail Self-motivation and the desire for self-development Ability to work autonomously when required Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred skills and qualifications:
Retail experience Familiarity with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite High school or equivalent education level Stable work history Experience with or passion for art, crafting, hands-on creativity!
