POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Vice President of Market Access, the Sr Director, Strategic Accounts & Access will be a key strategic leader within the Market Access team, responsible for shaping and executing the overall access and reimbursement strategy for Disc’s therapies across commercial and public payer segments resulting in appropriate patient access for Disc therapies. This individual will lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of field-based Directors, Strategic Accounts, and Regional Access Managers. The role requires a strategic mindset, a collaborative approach, and a strong commitment to building a culture of ownership, accountability, and trust—both within across cross-functional internal partners and external customers. This individual will act as a critical bridge between internal stakeholders and external payer partners and HCPs, ensuring disciplined execution of access strategies that enable timely and appropriate patient access.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and own a forward-thinking payer and account level segmentation and engagement strategy that secures optimal access, formulary positioning, and reimbursement for Disc therapies, aligned with company objectives.
Build, coach, and lead a purpose-driven team of Account Directors and Regional Access Managers, setting clear expectations, performance metrics, and fostering a culture where each team member is empowered to take initiative, drive results, and be accountable for outcomes.
Partner with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Patient Services to develop integrated access strategies and pull through activities grounded in data and cross-functional input, reinforcing trust and alignment across the organization.
Lead the development and implementation of a best-in-class account planning process that enables proactive, data-informed decision making and tactical execution tailored to evolving payer and reimbursement needs.
Collaborate with Sales, Patient Services and Channel/Distribution teams to ensure seamless patient access, reimbursement support, and pull-through, anchored in a commitment to patient well-being and equity.
Maintain deep knowledge of payer trends, practice management and competitive dynamics, using insights to adapt strategies, anticipate risks, and inform strategic direction with confidence.
Lead Market Access training initiatives to elevate organizational understanding, build cross-functional trust, and embed access literacy across the company.
Serve as the primary executive liaison for national/regional payer decision-makers, HCP practice managers cultivating long-term, trust-based relationships that enhance Disc’s reputation, value proposition and patient access.
Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with applicable legal, regulatory, and compliance standards, modeling ethical behavior and a commitment to doing what is right.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred (MBA, PharmD, MPH, etc.)
12+ years of progressive commercial experience within the biopharmaceutical industry, ideally in specialty or rare/orphan diseases
8+ years of Market Access leadership experience, including 5+ years of direct people management
Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams with a strong culture of accountability and trust
Track record of successful strategy development and execution in a matrixed, fast-paced environment
Orphan/specialty product launch experience required, experience with HUB services, reimbursement, and specialty pharmacy essential
Strong understanding of commercial and government payer systems, including Medicare Part D and pharmacy benefit management
