- Position Summary
- This life sciences leader will be accountable for leadership of the BBD BioPharma Strategy team, drive BBD contributions to corporate strategic growth initiatives, including AI capabilities and Early Detection go-to-market strategy, and serve on the BBD leadership team.
This leader will be a thought partner to BBD and Caris leadership and gain broad buy-in to the BioPharma Strategy, positioning Caris as the unequivocal leader and the partner-of-choice for BioPharma’s precision medicine and real-world data needs. The BBD BioPharma Strategy team is responsible for developing a comprehensive strategic framework for prioritizing Caris’ partnering opportunities, with a deep understanding of potential solutions/offerings for each potential partner’s portfolio of marketed products, development pipeline, RWD needs, and Discovery gaps. BioPharma Business Development (BBD) is a critical focus of the company, which will expand the growing portfolio of oncology business for Caris by leveraging the company’s leading technologies in molecular science, laboratory and bioinformatic platforms, and drug development accelerating capabilities. The incumbent will understand the unique capabilities of Caris, and in a tailored manner, will establish differentiated positioning for those capabilities to address real-world needs for decision-makers within oncology pharma and biotech in their efforts to enhance research and development activities, identify novel targets, expand existing indications, improve commercial efficiency, and accelerate clinical trial accrual and success. A track record of successful cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management is critical.
- Job Responsibilities
- + Lead BBD’s BioPharma Strategy development and evolution, including a comprehensive prioritization of both potential partners and the opportunities therein, gaining broad stakeholder buy-in, and serving as a champion for BBD strategy organization + Develop a Go-To-Market planning framework to assess and prepare for major corporate growth initiatives, such as BC early detection and MCED (multi-cancer early detection), and serve as a thought partner to the CBO and Caris Leadership on product positioning and development + Lead the assessment of AI integration into BBD and assess potential to unlock value / efficiencies across the Caris organization + Manage and mentor the BBD BioPharma Strategy team + Serve as the single point-of-contact BBD Partner to the Marketing Team, providing strategic guidance on key content creation needs and ensuring execution/delivery + Represent Caris at external medical forums and conferences + Maintain subject matter expertise in all of Caris’s offerings, including the science and technology of precision medicine, both current and evolving •Required Qualifications•+ >12 years professional work experience, with > 5 years in BioPharma, BioPharma-facing, or Business Development roles + Bachelor’s Degree + People leadership / management experience + Exceptional interpersonal skills, including oral/written communication + Entrepreneurial orientation characterized by independent problem-solving, pragmatism, and resourcefulness + Superior strategic thinker with the ability clearly present complex information in simplified constructs + Extensive knowledge of the research and development business processes within BioPharma, including understanding of internal decision-maker constituencies + Deep understanding of oncology products, companion diagnostics, lab services, bioinformatics / real-world data, and clinical trial enrollment related solutions + Some travel is required: ~10% with emphasis on BBD LT and select Caris events •Preferred Qualifications•+ Master’s degree or PhD strongly preferred + Experience in molecular biology, with knowledge of drug discovery and clinical development processes, and/or diagnostics and platforms + Experience leading both matrixed and direct-reporting teams •Training•+ All job specific, safety, and compliance training are assigned based on the job functions associated with this employee.

- Annual Hiring Range
- $300,000 – $360,000 Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level. The pay ratio between base pay and target incentive (if applicable) will be finalized at offer.
