Job Description

Example of Duties:

Under limited supervision, performs supervisory and administrative work to ensure that the functions of the Board of Elections are carried out properly. Work involves receiving and processing applications for registration; filing for candidates for County and City offices; processing absentee ballots; maintaining voter lists in accordance with State, Federal and County laws, regulations, and policies. Supervises a full and part time staff assigned to the Board of Elections. Employee must exercise independent judgment and initiative in carrying out assignments. Employee must also exercise considerable tact and courtesy in extensive public contact. Reports to County Board of Elections.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of experience in administrative or clerical work, preferably in an elections setting, with the ability to interpret and understand relevant election laws and regulations. Valid North Carolina driver’s license required upon hire and duration of employment. Out of state driver’s license will be accepted only if the individual is a permanent resident of that state. Notary Public commission required within one year of hire. North Carolina Election Administrator’s Certificate required within three years of hire. Must take and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, Motor Vehicle Records driver license check, as well as submit to drug and alcohol testing as defined in the Robeson County Personnel Policy. A criminal background check must be completed by the County of Robeson for potential applicants.
