PositionDescription Job Summary:

The General Manager has full profit andloss responsibility for the entire business unit and leads theestimating, operational, and financial results for all paving,milling, and construction activities for Peckham Road Constructionthroughout New York and Western Vermont. This person should have afull understanding of profit/loss statements and constructionaccounts and ensure the job vs. build process results in positive,profitable results. The General Manager will be supported by anestimating team, project managers, and superintendents who willwork up cost estimates for quotations, execute bid documents, andrun projects. The General Manager is expected to collaborate withother division managers to simultaneously meet construction goalsand overall organizational goals. Operational responsibilityincludes milling, paving, cold mix paving, cold-in-place recycling,full-depth reclamation, and chip sealing. The role will requirefrequent road travel to visit current and potential customers andjob sites. As such, this person will need to become an expert onour processes, understanding the engineering and science behind theprocess, the quality control process, and the real-worldapplications. Due to the size of the territories and extensivenumber of pavement treatments we provide this person will need tobe well organized. Over time, we hope this person will grow tobecome an industry leader on these topics and help to train futuregenerations of employees and customers on the processes. We mayalso ask that they sit on industry committees on certain topics tomaintain their expertise and to keep their knowledge of industrydevelopments current. The General Manager shall also work closelywith PII HR Team and develop and prepare SMART goals, conductperformance reviews and manage discipline issues when necessary.

The General Manager needs to have strong leadership skills and beable to motivate people.

Essential Functions:

1. Determined. Driveperformance and seek growth opportunities for the Peckhamconstruction operations in Eastern New York and Western Vermont. 2.Protect family and friends. Maintain a Safety Culture that fostersopenness, innovation, idea sharing, and actions to improve. 3.Humility. Foster teamwork and a “one-company” sense of purpose forthe team under your management. 4. Respect and engage. Conduct sitevisits to inspect projects and engage with customers, ensuringtheir needs are met. Regularly travel to meet with clients,showcasing expertise in bringing construction materials to marketeffectively. 5. Results matter. Oversee and manage constructioncost analysis, estimating, and bidding processes to ensure accurateand competitive proposals. Review and interpret contractualdocuments to align projects with company goals and clientexpectations. 6. Maintain and oversee a consistent 2-week lookaheadschedule to ensure effective project planning, resource allocation,and timely execution of paving operations. 7. Communicate.

Collaborate with superintendents and project managers to market ourprocesses and communicate frequently on project progression. 8.Dedication. Understand regional market dynamics and assist in theexecution of tactics to enhance Peckham construction divisionperformance. 9. Focused. Continue enhancing PII’s image in theconstruction industry as the supplier and employer of choice in thepaving construction materials market by continuing to reinforcecompany vision, values, and goals.

Position RequirementsRequirements, Education and Experience:

1. A minimum of five (5)years of experience in commercial construction, material supply, orsales, preferably in road construction, or a bachelor’s degree inengineering, communications, marketing, or a related field. 2.In-depth knowledge of construction standards and best practices. 3.Exceptional interpersonal and decision-making skills. 4. Excellentcommunication abilities, both verbal and written. 5. Demonstratedproficiency in prioritization and follow-up. 6. Strong analyticaland problem-solving capabilities. 7. Proven ability to effectivelylead diverse teams and resolve conflicts professionally. 8.Outstanding organizational skills with a track record of success.9. Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.10. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,Outlook). 11. Must have a valid driver’s license. 12. Must beauthorized to work in the United States.

Travel:

Position requires travel to job locationsand offices in Eastern New York and Western Vermont as well asoccasional travel throughout New England for recycled pavementprojects.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

This job operates in aprofessional office environment. This role routinely uses standardoffice equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers. This ismostly sedentary, outside of travel, in an office space. Theabilities to sit at a desk, frequent walking, bending, or standing,as necessary, are required.
