Job Summary:

As a part of the senior cabinet leadership team and reporting to the Superintendent, the Chief of Staff will assist the Superintendent by ensuring proper coordination of activities and priorities within the school District’s major functional areas of administration. This individual will recommend and implement solutions to District-wide issues, both internal and external, with the assistance of the Superintendent and Senior Staff. The Chief of Staff provides operational assistance by managing special projects and leading key initiatives, by resolving complex issues that require executive leadership and direction, by supporting the deliverables of the Superintendent’s Cabinet Team, and by ensuring that expectations and deadlines are clearly communicated to staff. The Chief of Staff serves as a key strategic planner, advisor, decision-maker, and problem solver for the Superintendent, ensuring that issues needing the Superintendent’s attention are addressed promptly. The Chief of Staff represents the District and Superintendent at public events and in various capacities with government and community organizations, facilitating communication with all stakeholders, and ensuring that the Superintendent’s office is responsive to the needs of the Board, staff and community, with attention to supporting equity and diversity. Essential Duties Oversee Safety, Health Services, and Accountability departments. Provide a broad range of assistance and information for the Superintendent. Manage special assignments on a short-term basis and provide effective intervention in complex situations. Initiate and lead interdepartmental teams in analyzing specific issues or problems and in developing strategies and recommendations to effectively bring resolution. Serve as a key member of the Superintendent’s executive cabinet, coordinate agendas, facilitate meetings and ensure that follow-up actions are completed. Provide leadership and support to the Superintendent’s direct reports to ensure that the District’s strategic goals and objectives are met and that projects are carried out in a timely manner. Analyze, interpret, and provide recommendations to the Superintendent concerning District issues and other matters. Audit the District’s functional areas to ensure that each supports its mission and responsibilities to the public with the highest possible quality. Develop, recommend, and implement solutions to District-wide issues, both internal and external with the assistance of the Superintendent and Senior Staff. Ensure senior staff comply with policies, regulations, laws and programs affecting school District operations. Assess and manage sensitive issues that arise in the rapidly changing environment of the Superintendent’s Office where improper handling could have severe consequences for the school District. Develop and implement procedures for evaluating program effectiveness and ensuring quality control. Represent the Superintendent in an official capacity as required. Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator complying with lawful directives that may be driven by the need for a team effort. Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative. Job Specifications Performance of this will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required) Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Public Policy, Business Administration or related field required.
Valid driver’s license and availability of private transportation, or the availability to get to off-site meetings.
Ten years of progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience in public education sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the .
