JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Business Manager provides financial and administrative leadership for the miscellaneous accounts and activities in the College of Pharmacy to include Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville. This position directs and manages the administration of programs, finances, personnel, research/training, committees, and other administrative functions within the College of Pharmacy. This position is responsible for budget development, management and control of all designated funds, state appropriated funds, grants, restricted accounts, development accounts, continuing education accounts, etc.

Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides financial and managerial expertise for business operations and management of budgetary and financial functions in the College of Pharmacy.
Works directly with faculty to ensure a high level of service is provided by the grant support team from grant submission through grant close out.
Plans, develops, implements, and directs the annual, interim, and day-to-day functions of the College.
Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
Coordinates, designs, and implements internal financial reporting systems, financial controls, and management information systems in coordination with the automated financial reporting systems of the university.
Develops and implements systems and processes to establish and maintain records for the operating unit.
Prepares, in conjunction with the budget office, budget requests, operating budgets, legislative budget requests, and formal budget revisions as required.
May coordinate financial aspects of research proposals, contracts, and sub-contracts, including the development of the budget, proposal preparation, and adnce to funding requirements; serves as a liaison with university administrators, state, federal, and private funding sources.
Participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of the established goals.
Oversee the activities of the graduate, residency, and CE programs within the college.
Coordinates pre- and post-award activities between faculty and research administrator.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related area. (TRANSCRIPT
REQUIRED
)
EXPERIENCE
Five (5) years of progressive experience (preferably in a university setting) that includes administration, program management, and research grant writing/submission experience. (Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related area is preferred.)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Excellent oral, written, organizational and communication skills to interact with a diverse group of faculty, students, and staff.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including fundamental grammar and writing skills.
Advanced knowledge of grant proposal writing and submission procedures.
Ability to maintain confidentiality on the College financial and personnel matters.
Ability to work independently, to have initiative, creativity, and flexibility.
Ability to present to small and large group. Time management skills.
Advanced knowledge of and proficiency using Microsoft Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Cayuse and IRIS experience is preferred
WORK SCHEDULE
This position may occasionally work evenings and weekends, with occasional travel.
