Job Description
Executive Director Unknown Child Foundation Memphis, TN • Remote Executive Director Unknown Child Foundation (UCF) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate audiences about the 1.5 million children who perished during the Holocaust and to empower current and future generations to value and hold all children safe, regardless of their ethnic, social, economic or religious background. Position Reporting to the Board of Directors the Executive Director will have overall operational responsibility for UCF’s staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. Initially the Executive Director will develop a deep knowledge of UCF’s mission, core programs, operations, and business plans. This position will initially be a part-time role although it is anticipated to evolve into a full-time position as the organization grows.
Leadership and Management:
Assisting with the development and implementation of educational program and services. Overseeing that core programs and services are aligned with the organization’s mission. Supporting the Board of Directors and assisting with strategic planning. Recommending timelines and resources needed to achieve strategic goals. Monitoring program effectiveness through data collection and evaluation. Managing program budgets and ensuring efficient resource allocation. Recruiting and training program staff and volunteers. Oversight of current exhibit at DeSoto County Museum along with maintaining strong communication and relationships with museum staff.
Fundraising and Development:
Identifying potential funding sources including grants, individual donors, and corporate sponsors. Writing grant proposals or engaging grant writers to seek grants. Planning and executing fundraising events. Managing donor databases and communications. Maintaining donor relationships.
Community Outreach and Engagement:
Building relationships with community partners and stakeholders. Promoting the organization’s programs and services through public awareness campaigns. Engaging with potential beneficiaries and other organizations to identify needs. Coordinating volunteer recruitment and management.
Administrative and Operational Tasks:
Maintaining accurate financial records and preparing reports. Managing administrative tasks. Complying with regulatory requirements and reporting standards. Overseeing website and social media presence.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Passion for the organization’s mission and commitment to social impact. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with stakeholders. Fundraising experience and donor cultivation. Grant writing or experience working with grant writers. Basic understanding of financial management and budgeting. Ability to work independently and as part of a small team. Action oriented, adaptable and strong business planning skills.
