Child Nutrition Program Supervisor Supervisor:
CNP Director Job Goals:

To assist in providing direction, planning, monitoring, and oversight of local school Child Nutrition Programs (CNPs). To assist in supervision and direction of CNP personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree, with a major in food service management, nutrition, family consumer science, culinary arts, business or closely related field. Two (2) years’ experience in nutrition supervision, training, planning, and monitoring of a food service establishment. Excellent oral and written communication, public relations, staff training, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of federal and state CNP regulations Valid driver’s license and ability to use personal vehicle for travel around the school system and to various meetings. Knowledge of computer programs for meal counting and claiming and electronic communications. Willingness to learn menu nutritional analysis and application processing programs. Ability to manage, supervise and evaluate CNP Managers and employees. Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457. Ability to possess and maintain food safety certification provided by the Jefferson County Health Department and/or the National Restaurant Association. Possess and maintain required health certifications including tuberculin skin test results. Strength, stamina, agility, dexterity, and acuity to perform job responsibilities safely and effectively. Ability to be in regular attendance and demonstrate punctuality. Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays when necessary. Such alternative qualifications to those listed as the Board may require.

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities. Monitors individual schools’ compliance with federal and state regulations, local health department requirements and school system policies and procedures. Assists in monitoring the financial status of the individual school cafeterias and the school system child nutrition program to effectively utilize resources and maintain the non-profit organization status. Assists in trainings for child nutrition program managers and workers. Provides training and demonstrations of use and care of equipment as needed. Promotes positive public relations for the Child Nutrition Program, by publication of menus and program information. Works with managers on the development and implementation of quality recipes and effective techniques to improve food quality in school meals. Assists in the development of menus for the school system that comply with all USDA requirements and meet nutritional standards. Assists in processing free and reduced meal applications as needed. Monitors records of CNP managers to ensure that required records are kept in an organized fashion and that they comply with HACCP regulations. Assists with the monitoring of the After School Care Program for compliance with regulations for reimbursement of approved snacks and at-risk supper meals. Engages in professional growth, ongoing training, and demonstrates professional ethics and effective leadership. Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law. Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility. Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner. Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner. Properly uses tools, equipment, and material resources of the school system. Provides assistance in the reporting of maintenance concerns and where applicable procurement of equipment for the continuation of meal production. Assist in the monitoring of reported work time through the Board approved time management system. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).
