JOB DESCRIPTION
The Research Administration Manager-Training leads the design and implementation of the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) comprehensive research administration education and training program. Reporting to the Associate Director of Research Administration, this strategic role oversees the development and delivery of education and training initiatives covering sponsored research, from proposal development through award management and compliance. The position works in the Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA) and collaborates with academic departments, research faculty, and administrative staff to create and execute dynamic education solutions that enhance research administration effectiveness across the University. Through data-driven program evaluation and stakeholder engagement, this role ensures education and training initiatives align with federal regulations, sponsor requirements, and institutional policies while advancing the University’s research mission.
Job functions include:
Implements an education system for a variety of staff and partners, including planning and scheduling orientation, and education curriculum for on-the-job training based on role, and a mentorship program.
Establishes competencies for main job functions for new and existing employees within the unit and serves as the point of contact to new employees for training and certification activities and ensures compliance with mandatory training for new and ongoing staff.
Implements an ongoing training series incorporating feedback from a variety of documents and information and facilitates longer training sessions covering a variety of relevant topics.
Assists with education of and documentation creation for policies, procedures, tutorials, guidance, and supplemental forms.
Develops, manages and delivers research administration and compliance training for PIs and unit staff.
Other duties as assigned.
EXPECTED SALARY
$80,000 – $85,000
REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience in grant and contract administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED

- Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and manage several workstreams at once.
- Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking with an ability to work with numbers, metrics and spreadsheets.
- Critical thinking and communication skills specific to research administration.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
- Expert understanding of sponsor guidelines and compliance requirements combined with extensive experience in proposal development, contract negotiation, and/or post-award management.
- Ability to streamline processes and create clear, comprehensive documentation that transforms complex information into accessible, user-friendly resources.
- Exceptional communication skills and collaborative mindset, with proven ability to work effectively with individuals across multiple units and core offices.
- Experience mentoring and developing research administrators from a variety of backgrounds.
