JOB SUMMARY

The Grant Manager is responsible for identifying, writing, securing, and managing grants from government agencies, foundations, and philanthropic partners. This role will also supervise a team of Grant Coordinators , including both full-time staff and 1099 contractors , ensuring consistency, accountability, and alignment in all phases of grant work—from application to reporting. The ideal candidate has excellent grant writing skills, strong project management capabilities, and a deep understanding of public health, nonprofit operations, and funder compliance. This role is critical to our continued growth and sustainability, particularly across brick-and-mortar clinics , jail-based contracts , and community-based health programs .

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

Grant Identification & Proposal Development Research and identify public and private grant opportunities aligned with our mission. Lead the full proposal development process: drafting narratives, coordinating budgets, and gathering required documentation. Manage a calendar of application deadlines, renewals, and deliverables. Delegate and review work by Grant Coordinators, ensuring high-quality submissions. Team Leadership Supervise and support a small team of Grant Coordinators (both full-time employees and 1099 contractors). Provide guidance, training, and feedback to ensure deadlines are met and standards are upheld. Monitor workload distribution and performance across the team. Grants Management & Compliance Serve as the primary liaison between funders and internal teams for grant-related communications. Oversee compliance with funder requirements, including deliverable timelines, data collection, and allowable use of funds. Collaborate with Finance to ensure accurate tracking of grant budgets and expenditures. Maintain organized grant documentation, subrecipient files, and audit-ready records. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with clinical operations, outreach teams, and jail contract leads to gather program data and outcomes. Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Compliance to align grant-funded initiatives with organizational policy and capacity. Support strategic planning around program expansion and sustainability through funded projects. Reporting & Impact Communication Prepare timely narrative and financial reports for funders, often in coordination with program staff. Track progress toward grant goals and identify risks or delays in execution. Assist with impact storytelling and annual reports to communicate outcomes. CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, English, Nonprofit Management, or related field (Master’s a plus but not required).

Certification and Licensing:
N/A Experience:

3-5 years of experience in grant writing, grants management, and/or public funding administration. Prior experience supervising a team, including contractors or freelance contributors. Proven success in securing and managing local, state, or federal grants. Background in healthcare, public health, or social services, especially in community or correctional settings. Familiarity with managing grants in multi-entity or hybrid (nonprofit/for-profit) environments.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

Strong project management and organizational skills. Excellent communication and writing abilities with an eye for accuracy and impact. Knowledge of public health, nonprofit operations, and compliance standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with grant databases, CRM, or project management platforms.
