Job Description

Reporting to the Associate Director of Database & Grants, the Grants Associate is responsible for managing Children First’s robust philanthropy grant applications, awards, and reporting requirements. While maintaining current grant funder relationships, this position will: 1) research new funding opportunities that align with Children First’s mission, needs, goals, and strategic objectives, 2) develop written proposals, and 3) coordinate the application submission and reporting process for various funding sources. This position also works collaboratively with database administration through data entry and gift/grant management in the donor database system and in digital and physical records. The Grants Associate is required to exercise judgment and discretion. They provide assistance and support to all fundraising initiatives, public relations and events as necessary. As the Grants Associate, they will develop, execute and monitor non-governmental grants. They may also participate in execution and monitoring of federal, state, and local governmental grants in partnership with other departments. They will promote the community image of Children First. Work is reviewed through regular coaching and feedback and annual evaluations with supervisor. Licenses /Certifications Valid Florida Drivers License, or reliable transportation Immediate/continued enrollment in the Criminal History Registry-Child Care Division Current Health Appraisal, updated every two (2) years Education / Equivalent Experience Bachelor’s degree preferred Development professional with three years of experience writing and securing non-governmental grants Experience managing databases (Raiser’s Edge preferred) in a nonprofit environment Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Knowledge of:

Principles and practices of donor-based research and fundraising Confidentiality requirements and database regulations Ability to: Interpret data and think creatively to solve problems and make decisions Communicate fluently in English (Spanish is desired) Work cooperatively between staff and other departments Manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met Manage time, stress, and constantly changing situations Collect, analyze, and present data with accurate reports and clear recommendations Physical/Mental Demands Lifts and/or moves up to 50 lbs. Kneels, stoops, bends, reaches, stands, and sits on floor to attend to needs Sitting, for working at keyboard and desk, standing, driving for site visits, meetings, and events Use manual dexterity, reach with hands and arms, stretch, type, and talk or hear Respond both physically and mentally to emergency or crisis situations Environmental Conditions Experiences variability in temperature and environment Interaction with children who are ill and/or possibly contagious This position requires the ability to withstand strain and stress to meet deadlines and other pressures Occasionally required to lift and carry materials for meetings and events May require use of personal vehicle for official business travel (valid Florida driver’s license and proof of insurance required) Some evening and weekend work may be required for events Children First is an equal opportunity employer.
