POSITION OVERVIEW

Grant Manager, Homelessness Prevention Program (Part Time, 0.5 FTE)•Central Office
The Grant Manager will oversee and manage the State of Maine Housing Department-funded grant for the Homelessness Prevention Housing Navigation Program, which provides critical support to families identified under the McKinney-Vento Act. This program focuses on preventing homelessness for students and families by providing housing navigation specialists and financial assistance for housing stabilization purposes. The Grant manager ensures compliance with state funding regulations, tracks financial expenditures, and leads reporting on program outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Grant Oversight & Compliance:

Manage and ensure compliance with the State of Maine Housing Department funding, adhering to all state and program-specific regulations and reporting requirements.
Track the allocation of funds for housing stabilization services, including rent, security deposit, and utilities assistance.
Prepare and submit comprehensive program and financial reports to the Maine Housing Department and other relevant stakeholders.
Ensure documentation for all financial transactions, services provided, and outcomes met are in line with grant specifications.

Collaboration & Program Support:

Coordinate with housing navigation specialists, McKinney-Vento liaisons, school leaders, families, community-based organizations, and landlords to deliver seamless homelessness prevention services.
Collaborate with family and community engagement specialists who provide language access and cultural brokering for multilingual families experiencing homelessness.
Track housing outcomes to ensure families are successfully stabilized in permanent housing, preventing homelessness in the long term.
Provide support and training to program staff on effective program coordination, reporting, and the specific financial assistance process for families.

Financial Management & Budgeting:

Develop and monitor the program budget, ensuring funds are appropriately allocated to prevent homelessness through housing stabilization services.
Monitor disbursement of financial assistance to families, ensuring all payments are documented and comply with state guidelines.
Maintain financial records that demonstrate appropriate use of funds in preventing homelessness for families under the McKinney-Vento designation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
At least 3 years of experience in grant management in a Pre-K-12 setting and/or school administrative leadership.
Experience with McKinney-Vento and/or homelessness prevention services is highly preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong understanding of state and federal housing assistance programs, especially related to homelessness prevention.
Excellent knowledge of grant compliance, financial management, and reporting requirements.
Strong communication and writing skills for preparing and submitting reports and grant proposals.
Ability to analyze program data to demonstrate the impact of homelessness prevention efforts.
Collaborative mindset to work with schools, local agencies, and housing partners.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of MaineHousing programs, McKinney-Vento Act, and other homelessness prevention strategies.
Experience managing programs that provide financial assistance for rent and security deposits.
