Job Summary TheManager for USM Center for Digital Humanities (CDH) and Mississippi Digital Humanities Hub will help support and expand the initiatives of the CDH, working closely with its director, consulting with faculty and students with CDH tools for research and classroom use, support existing CDH projects, assisting with design/consultation work for USM and regional repositories, supporting CDH outreach efforts across the state, and assist with CDH fundraising efforts. Additionally, the Manager for the CDH serves as the manager for the Mississippi Digital Humanities Hub, coordinating and hiring staff, guiding statewide outreach, and managing day-to-day finances. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities + Serves as operational manager for the CDH and Mississippi Humanities Digital Hub by making equipment purchases, arranging space, arranging travel, maintaining employment records, scheduling and overseeing staff, and assisting with hiring. As operational manager for the Hub, the manager is also responsible for federally mandated budgets, progress reports, and helps to coordinate the work of three full-time employees to ensure that project deadlines are met; + Maintains financial records for the Mississippi Digital Humanities Hub grant and the Center for Digital Humanities along with assisting with grant writing and fundraising; + Consulting with faculty, students, and staff on DH projects. The CDH manager is the point of first contact for the Center for Digital Humanities and, as its only full-time employee, consults with potential clients to determine if the Center can be of service and to help determine what services are needed before CDH faculty and part-time staff engage in projects; + Assisting with CDH outreach across the university and the state, representing the CDH at regional conferences and coordinating with state-based clients who might seek the services of the CDH (requires occasional travel); + Supports CDH projects and design work; overseeing staff assigned to contracted projects for the CDH; + Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree in humanities, business administration, or related field from an accredited college or university and at least one year of experience in digital humanities, project, or grant management, and knowledge of DH software/applications or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) + Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel. + Familiarity with DH software/applications such Omeka, Drupal, and RStudio. + Ability to work in a collaborative environment, work face-to-face on campus, and the ability to travel with overnight stays when required. + Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate with a diverse group of individuals. Preferred Qualifications Experience using free open-source software/applications for digital projects, and experience using several of the following: digital documentary editing, data curation, data visualizations, text mining, podcasting, and/or digital publishing. M.A. in a humanities or related field from an accredited college or university or certificate in Digital Humanities.
