The Grant / Proposal Director is responsible for researching, developing, writing, and stewarding funding proposals for government, corporations, major donors, and foundations for all YMCA of Northwest North Carolina branches and the Association Office. This position also assists the Senior VP/Chief Development Officer in implementing the financial development strategic plan and supporting special events. Major Gifts Essential Functions Grant Acquisition and Implementation:

1. Researches and writes major donor, government, corporate, and foundation proposals with supplemental assistance from branch personnel. 2. Prepares and assists in the presentation of grant proposals to public and private funders. 3. Drives the grant application process from start to finish including: Coordinating the application process and completing proposal submission, in a timely manner. Working with branch personnel and/or the finance department to establish program goals, outcomes, and budgets and review grant monitoring, tracking, and reporting requirements. 1. Works with branch executives/ senior management on program opportunities and operating needs to maximize marketing to grant maker communities in conjunction with the marketing team. 2. Conducts research to identify and analyze appropriate funding sources for current and potential programs. Maintains a central library of grant maker information including annual reports, grant applications and grant guidelines. 3. Understands current YMCA program offerings to identify and appropriately match funding sources to program needs. Works with branch personnel, the finance department, and/or the Vice President for Major Gifts to evaluate the fit and feasibility of grant opportunities with programs and personnel. 4. Assists with preparing annual United Way proposals for counties in the service area and writing all United Way of Forsyth County proposals, 21st Century Grant, and other grants throughout the year. 5. Works with senior leadership, preparing presentations for major donor proposals.

Grant Monitoring, Tracking, and Reporting:

1. Establishes and implements procedures with branch personnel and/or finance department to monitor and report on the fulfillment of grant/contract obligations both programmatically and financially as required. 2. Monitors program implementation and data collection per grant guidelines. Assists staff with action items and provides guidance to ensure alignment of program delivery and outcomes. 3. Tracks progress towards grant goals and assists with the review and analysis of outcomes data and other program information (including budget) for reporting. 4. Collaborates with branch personnel and/or finance department to prepare and submit all required grant reports per grant requirements. 5. Acts as a liaison to funders to provide reporting and grant financial information as requested. 6. Ensures, at all times, branch personnel are educated on current grant requirements such as goals, outcomes, budgets, and reporting. 7. Manages through influence to ensure programs are conducted according to grant requirements and requisite outcome data is collected and reported. 8. Provides ongoing support including monitoring progress, addressing challenges, and evaluating successes, assisting branches with the development and implementation of specific strategies to address challenges.

Other:

1. Assists the Development Department with the development and execution of financial development special events. Special events include, but are not limited to: leadership development sessions, Annual Celebration, Golf Tournament, Better Together and other special events. 2. Participates in community meetings and community collaborations related to key grant activities. 3. Attends YUSA and non-YMCA affiliated professional development opportunities to remain knowledgeable on current trends in the grant-seeking world. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in professional positions related to development is necessary, with grant writing experience preferred. 2. Understanding of basic principles of accounting, including developing a budget. 5. Ability to lead and manage by influence to impact grant accountability and reporting for Association. 6. Strong project and process management skills. 7. Highly proficient in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel and Google Workspace. 8. Must be detail-oriented with good organizational skills. 9. Able to exercise high levels of discretion and confidentiality. 10. Ability to relate to staff at all levels in a positive manner, emphasizing cooperation and teamwork. 11. Deep understanding of commitment to and ability to communicate the YMCA mission. 12. Willingness to train and learn CRM database. 13. Understanding of various types of data collection methods preferred.
