Located in the heart of Sylva, CDP provides a lifeline to individuals and families affected by domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault, offering a safe space, compassionate care, and a path toward healing. CDP’s comprehensive services include crisis counseling, court advocacy, case management, prevention services, and peer support groups and communication. In Summer/Fall 2025, CDP looks forward to expanding their services by opening a shelter for victims of interpersonal violence, thus fulfilling their strategic vision. Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced, visionary, and community-focused servant leader to serve as our next Executive Director (ED). The ideal candidate is forward-thinking and has experience in financial oversight, management, strategic leadership, and fund development. This candidate will be building collaborative community relationships, donor and fund development, and awareness of the needs of victims of interpersonal violence. CDP is a financially stable organization with a great community reputation and strong, talented team.

Key Responsibilities:
Executive Leadership & Governance:

Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors and attend all meetings; lead strategic planning and fundraising; ensure organizational compliance and sound governance policies and practices.

Financial Oversight:

Oversee the financial health of the organization and manage budgets; approve or manage key financial and operational agreements, including loans, contracts, and employee compensation matters

Grants & Reporting:

Research, apply for and manage grants; report to state, federal, and budget offices.

External Relations & Community Engagement:

Conduct outreach, build relationships with community leaders, donors and partners; represent CDP in collaborative community boards & public events.

Program Oversight:

Supervise staff (~18 staff as well as volunteers & contractors), evaluate programs, ensure compliance; on-call 24/7.

Client Services:

Advising staff on crisis counseling, prevention services, case management and court advocacy; maintain accurate statistics.

Training & Development:

Train staff and volunteers; ensure best practices.

Qualifications:
Minimum :

4-year degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or 7 years of relevant experience.

Preferred :

Experience with financial management, non-profit management, interpersonal violence and victim services, rural communities, and grant management.

Other :

Valid NC driver’s license, residency in Jackson County or surrounding area or willingness to relocate.

Skills & Attributes:

Strong leadership, relationship, communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency in Google Workspace, MS Word, MS Excel, and QuickBooks. Experience with or willingness to learn state or federal grant management systems such as EBS, SAMS or Payment Management System Strong financial acumen. Empathy, patience, and a nonjudgmental attitude.

Job Type:
Full-time Pay:

$85,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
