Description of Duties:

The Learning Commons at the University at Albany seeks to hire a Business Manager that will oversee all fiscal and human resources activities for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Driving Change grant and will provide administrative support to the grant’s Principal Investigator (PI). The position is part-time, 60% of FTE or 22.50 hours a week. The business manager will manage the HHMI grant budget and State-side budgets that support HHMI grant activities: + Managing purchasing and contracts, monitoring expenditures, tracking cost share, and preparing budget modifications. + Managing human resource actions, including recruitment, hiring, and time and attendance for professional and student employees. + Assisting the PI and Learning Commons assistant dean with financial and progress reporting to HHMI. + Serving as Learning Commons liaison with the Research Foundation and with university departments including the offices of accounting, procurement, and human resources.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization. + Three years of related experience in a higher education setting. + Experience managing budgets. + Experience managing personnel actions, including recruitment, hiring and appointment changes, and time and attendance oversight. + Purchasing and contracts experience. + Experience working with grant-funded programs. + Experience working with Microsoft Excel. + Demonstrated attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications + Master’s degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization. + Experience engaging in strategic planning for a unit or organization. + Experience working with a diverse student population.

Salary Range:
