The Grants Manager is responsible for researching, preparing, submitting, and managing grant proposals and reports that support the agency’s goals and meet funder guidelines and criteria. This person serves as the primary grant writer, manages funder relationships, engages in compliance reporting, and supports special project initiatives. This position requires strong writing, data analysis, program budgeting, and project management skills, with an emphasis on outcome measurement. Responsibilities Lead grant proposal development and submission—preparing and organizing materials for proposals, and submitting and monitoring grant applications, including: Researching new funding and business development opportunities on a local, state, and federal level. Maintaining and building relationships with funders and other strategic partners on a local, state, and national level. Drafting proposals/LOIs, grant application narratives, and budgets, and collaborating to finalize with program staff, finance, and the Executive Director. Submitting grant applications via paper or online portals, and maintaining passwords in the agency’s password manager. Meeting with funders and the agency’s staff to explore funding opportunities and fulfill site visit requirements. Maintaining a master calendar of grants, prospects, and all associated files and correspondence. Maintaining a library of grant support documents, including resumes, bios, IRS forms, Board/staff diversity lists, etc. Research, review, write, and complete grant submissions and follow-up reporting per individual grant requirements. Executing thank you letters and facilitating grant contracts/agreements. Ensuring acknowledgment of funders via website, e-newsletter, and social media. Maintain grant compliance and reporting, including outcome measurement and grant budgets—taking responsibility for meeting high standards of effectiveness, timeliness, and completeness, including: Monitoring and maintaining funder reporting schedules and requirements. Tracking progress toward organizational and programmatic outcomes and goals. Requesting reimbursements and drawdowns as needed. Drafting compelling progress reports and targeted program updates (e.g., blog posts, press releases, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn posts) to funders that fully capture programmatic success. Assembling all necessary supporting materials and documents, including budget reports, outcome measurements, success stories, etc., and submitting reports to funders. Researching statistics, trends, and data for grant proposals and community advocacy, including: Performing research and data-gathering from external sources and the agency’s program data. Assisting in the development of presentations for various stakeholders. Other duties as assigned. Data Management Maintain and update donor records in Raiser’s Edge NXT to ensure accuracy and completeness. Process all incoming gifts, including checks, credit cards, online, ACH, and stock in a timely manner. Ensure all gifts are accurately coded according to the database manual. Deposit checks via in-house banking software and physically at the local bank branch. Perform regular data audits to ensure clean and reliable donor records. Ensure accurate reconciliation of donor records between Raiser’s Edge NXT, Merchant Services, and Financial Edge NXT, working in collaboration with the Finance Department. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (or 3-7 years of work experience with nonprofit administration, grant writing, or fundraising) Minimum 3-5 years work experience in fundraising, grant writing, or grants management, and systems management. Demonstrated analytical and persuasive writing skills, and superior editing skills, including the ability to convey complex information clearly to a diverse audience. Strong administrative skills and self-motivated with the ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks under minimal supervision effectively and efficiently. Intermediate to expert skills in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Experience with donor development software, Raiser’s Edge, is a plus. Budgeting and project management experience. Ability to work under pressure and respond to deadlines without sacrificing quality; and Demonstrated interest in the mission, vision, and values of Charleston Promise Neighborhood. Current driver’s license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained throughout employment. Clear background check.
