The department operates a broad portfolio of grants with a lifetime budget of over £30bn. These schemes support many of the department’s priority industries and sectors. GDD has been established as a centre of excellence for grant and funding delivery within the department. GDD works closely with colleagues from policy, finance, analysis and legal, as well as industry experts, to award and monitor grants across a wide range of policy areas, ensuring compliance with government grant standards and HMT’s Managing Public Money. We are looking to appoint an HEO business manager who will play a key role in a new team. They will work closely with the leadership team within GDD to ensure the smooth running of the directorate and private office, providing support on a range of projects and issues. This role will suit forward thinkers with excellent organisational skills and ability to multi task. This is an exciting time to join GDD as we are building a set of strengthened portfolio and business management functions. The post holder will need to be able to work independently and confidently manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.responsible for a number of wide range of cross cutting tasks across the directorate. The successful individual will be responsible for: Supporting the directorate to build a strong corporate capability, working on a wide range of large and exciting projects including learning and development planning and monitoring; manging the In Year Reward scheme; People Survey response and communications. Supporting the effective running of the Directorate for example by informing the GDD business plan, owning the Directorate’s intranet content and sharepoint site, This may involve travel to other DBT hubs. Diary management of the director and three deputy directors ensuring the most efficient use of senior leader’s time. This will include preparing daily diary schedules, anticipating future requirements, and being responsible for organising meetings and any travel arrangements. Proactively supporting the Director and SLT by ensuring they are briefed and prepared for key meetings/ issues.
