Full Job Description Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Public Assistance Specialist to support disaster recovery efforts by coordinating with stakeholders, managing grant documentation, and ensuring regulatory compliance. This role involves working closely with local, state, and federal partners, interpreting complex policies, and guiding applicants through recovery grant processes. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to public service.

Key Responsibilities:
Liaison & Coordination:

Serve as a representative in meetings with government agencies and other partners. Facilitate clear communication to support program goals.

Grant Management:

Assist applicants with recovery grant activities including site visits, report management, and guidance on grant regulations and documentation requirements.

Policy Interpretation & Compliance:

Interpret and apply relevant federal, state, and local policies, laws, and regulations to ensure program compliance. Provide clear and accurate guidance to applicants.

Documentation & Reporting:

Review subrecipient documentation for accuracy and compliance. Prepare detailed activity reports and status updates.

Independent Work & Prioritization:

Manage tasks with minimal supervision, prioritize work based on deadlines and program needs, and ensure timely completion of assignments.

Stakeholder Communication:

Maintain professional and responsive communication with applicants, agencies, and stakeholders throughout the recovery process.

Decision-Making & Judgment:

Identify potential issues, make informed recommendations, and escalate concerns to leadership as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (required for permanent placement) Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability and willingness to travel for meetings and site visits Availability to work overtime when needed Ability to clearly explain complex information to diverse audiences Eagerness to learn and contribute to a team

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in grants management, emergency management, public health, or policy-related fields Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage detailed documentation (e.g., timesheets, invoices, procurement records) Project or case management experience #

Staffing Job Type:
Full-time Pay:

$20.00 – $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week
