Responsibilities:

This position will support all sponsored program grants initiated through academic departments. Faculty will be able to call on this position to assist with funding sources, research proposal development, institutional review board relations, fund management, reports to the funding source, and serve as a consultant for financial matters related to funding. This position will work in concert with the Foundation Relations Coordinator, Finance and Administration to assure proper and efficient funded research procedures.

Job duties:

Assists faculty and university administration in writing proposals for funding from private foundations, state, national and international resources, and donors, to support the faculty in projects, programs, initiatives, and services, including participating in budget planning, coordinating submission and, ensuring proposal adherence with ethical and legal guidelines.
Serves as a reference, mentor, and advisor to faculty to identify sources of external funding for research. Provides guidance for initial ideation for faculty research, including resources found in grant search databases, libraries, the web, foundation sites and personal contacts.
Coordinates and provides training of faculty and activities of research personnel such that grants are conducted with efficiency, good stewardship, accuracy, and compliance.
Builds partnerships among university individuals and among university initiatives to strengthen collaboration and innovation.
Works with the principal investigator and Finance and Accounting to manage budgets and support grant expenditures including faculty effort and subawards.
Supports the timeliness and accuracy of expected reports for the University and for granting sources
Serves in collaboration with the Finance Administrator, Foundation Relations Coordinator, and Finance and Accounting to assure secure and efficient processing of sponsored program grants initiated through various University Colleges, Departments, and Administrative Units.

Required EducationMust have a bachelor’s degree and preferably a master’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a related area. Required ExperienceApplicants must have 3-5 years of experience in related areas such as: grant writing, funded research, nonprofit development, and grants administration. Applicants should understand and be able to converse in the areas of research methods, accounting principles and practices, business, and management. They should also be able to work both independently and as a member of a team. The selected candidate will be required to complete a background check satisfactory to the University.
