Job Summary:

Orders, receives and distributes equipment and supplies utilized in Surgical Services. Controls operating cost by requisitioning adequate inventory level based on utilization. Works with clinical staff and meets with surgeons to determine optimum inventory levels to meet their needs. This position is responsible for maintaining department inventory database to reflect accurate inventory values. Conducts monthly inventory cycle counts to ensure department meets Internal Auditing standards. Responsible for daily gathering (picking) of needed inventory supplies and instruments for each individual operating room case. Serves as a resource to all staff within the department for any supplies and /or equipment issues. Requests appropriate FDA approvals and any supplemental Medicare charge codes prior to any new generic supplies or equipment being brought into the department for use. Contacting and interacting routinely with vendors to obtain information on new products, product changes, samples, evaluation of products, back orders, special promotions, alternate products, etc. Manages proper documentation of service specific high dollar inventory Manages Trackcore data base as required by CMS requirements for tracking biological and non biological implants; while ensuring proper billing for these items

What You’ll Need:

High School Diploma Required 2 years of inventory management experience. Prior hospital inventory training preferred

What You’ll Do:

Ensures the highest possible level of service to the Surgical Services Department through accurate acquisition of required supplies while striving to adhere to the department budget. Accurately performs PeopleSoft on-line purchases by providing correct accounts numbers, product information and prices. Works to control operating costs and maintain optimum inventory levels by requisitioning supplies based on utilization and item order history to prevent over stocking, stock-outs, shortages, or cancellation of a surgical case. Ensures service specific, OR par-stock and generic supplies are properly maintained in designated locations for distribution throughout all sites in the operating room. Rotates all inventory to promote first in, first out usage. Actively removes all expired inventory and addresses short dated supplies on a daily basis. Utilizes “Just in time” inventory skills whenever possible to improve inventory turns. Conducts monthly inventory cycle counts and actively adjusts class item numbers to reflect accurate on hand quantities. Requests class item number in a timely manner for all items added to inventory. Inactivates any unneeded class item numbers. Keeps shelves properly labeled and updated with current information. Works with vendors/distributors to return low usage, obsolete and/or overstocked supplies for exchange or credit. Recommends to clinical staff any inventory changes or adjustment that can help prevent inventory losses due to low or no usage. Resolves manufacturer recalls as quickly as possible to promote patient safety. Requests appropriate FDA approvals and any supplemental Medicare charge codes prior to any new generic supplies or equipment being brought into the department for use. Contacting and interacting routinely with vendors to obtain information on new products, product changes, samples, evaluation of products, back orders, special promotions, alternate products, etc. Responsible for daily gathering (picking) of needed inventory supplies for each individual operating room cases. This position is required to pick at least 4 /5 cases per hour or approximately 20 cases daily with no more than 4 valid concern reported by the clinical staff each month to the Manager or Supervisor. Responsible for encoding all service specific specially implants ordered and received into the tracking database each day as required by the Nurse implant Manager and Implant Manager to meet the needs of our clinical staff. As well as working with the operating room billing staff to ensure these products are billed to the patients.
