The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Garden Spot Foods, distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY and New Holland, PA.

General Description/Purpose:

The Receiver/Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for accurately and efficiently receiving inbound freight and ensuring that its quality meets our customer’s expectations. Accurately and efficiently cycle counting and adjusting inventory, processing damages and returns and helping to address the root cause of issues with inventory counts or locations.

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 6am – 2:45pm

Wages:

$20 per hour

Job Responsibilities:

Arrive on time for the start of the scheduled shift Perform a pre-operation inspection of any equipment being used in the receiving process Accurate receive items and palletize them for put away Follow company and SQF guidelines when handling products, including the handling of damaged cases found during receiving Ensure pallets are properly wrapped to ensure stability though the warehouse Operate equipment in a safe manner at all times Verify, UPD, Description, and Pack Size of item being received Additional duties (selecting, cleaning, replenishing bays, or others) as requested by supervisor Maintain inventory stock and ensure accurate records of inventory quantities Assess inventory reports, identify issues and action items and take appropriate action Perform daily cycle counts and make necessary adjustments Address recalls, quality issues, and resolve root causes for mispicks and errors Process warehouse damages, repack product to return to stock and make appropriate adjustments Check in products returned from customers and put away in the appropriate location Assist with physical warehouse inventory audits

Required Skills/Abilities:

Must be at least 18 years old Able to read and speak English Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment while performing daily tasks Organized, self-motivated Excellent communication skills Computer skills including Outlook and Excel Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems Able to pass a pre-employment drug screening test Must have reliable transportation to travel between warehouse buildings and must have a satisfactory driving record based on MVR results Ability to adapt and demonstrate flexibility

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required Prior Inventory experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

Able to stand, walk, lift and bend for extended periods of time Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
