This role is vital in maintaining inventory integrity, supporting logistics processes, and ensuring accurate communication and documentation across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Outbound Load Verification:
Confirm that trucks are loaded correctly according to the “blues” (load sheets). Verify materials and quantities, ensuring documentation is properly completed. Sign off in the inventory check section to confirm outbound accuracy. Inventory Checks (By Request): Perform physical checks of inventory on the shop floor upon request. Respond promptly with accurate material availability information. Receiving –
Outside Carriers and Morgan Trucking:
Obtain Bill of Lading (BOL) paperwork from inbound drivers. Verify material dimensions (length, width, thickness) and quantities against BOL documentation. Notate discrepancies on BOL prior to unloading. Report discrepancies to the Inventory Manager and Accounts Payable via email, including a scanned copy of the BOL. Notify Sheet Room, Bay Leads, or Forklift Operators when unloading is approved. High school diploma or GED required. 1+ year of experience in inventory control, warehousing, or shipping/receiving preferred. Familiarity with steel materials (e.g., stainless, aluminum, galvanized) a plus. Ability to read and interpret BOL paperwork and inventory documents. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Basic computer and email proficiency for documentation and reporting. Ability to operate or learn to operate forklifts or other material handling equipment (certification preferred). Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision on the night shift.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be comfortable working in a steel manufacturing and warehouse environment.
