Position Purpose:
This position primarily involves receiving, warehousing, fulfillment, inventory and management of all products stored in the Vermont Foodbank distribution centers. In addition to these primary responsibilities, this position will regularly interact with volunteers, delivery drivers and members of our network. This position will support food safety and third-party auditor requirements, warehouse organization and quality control. This position will work closely with the facilities team, support drivers and volunteer activities. Requirements:
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Pick orders according to pick tickets, ensuring accuracy and utilizing FIFO. Ensure all paperwork is filled out completely, accurately, and timely for assigned functions. Receive, and unload delivery trucks in accordance with VF, AIB, and Feeding America procedures to ensure company guidelines and policies are met at all times. Stage and organize all completed orders with proper documentation and pallet tags in each warehouse zone. Inform supervisor of discrepancy in inventory, missed incoming deliveries or agency pick ups, product quality issues, and slow moving product. Provide excellent customer service and maintain relationships with Network and Community Partners. Ensure proper sanitary and safe warehousing of all products in accordance with Feeding America, VF, and third party audit guidelines and requirements. Collaborates with supervisor to optimize the work completion and the work flow. Maintain accurate inventory control procedures. Provide backup for sort room activities – be able to perform duties to keep sort room functioning, including overseeing of volunteers and non-volunteers. Ability to evaluate and prioritize daily workload and to look for ways to improve work flow. Must be able to work some nights and weekends as required. Responsible for routine facilities maintenance including sweeping, cleaning, floor maintenance, pallet inspections, etc. Take part in physical inventory. Global Functions and Responsibilities Work cooperatively with staff and volunteers to support the mission of the Foodbank to meet and sustain organizational goals. Positively contribute to an organizational culture of safe and secure food handling, warehousing and distribution. The foodbank relies on volunteers everyday to fulfill our mission. All Foodbank employees must support our culture of philanthropy by treating every volunteer with appreciation and respect. This position will occasionally require travel to other food banks, conferences, and industry events to attend required meetings, training, networking, speaking engagements, etc. Some out-of-area and overnight travel will be expected. In instances of a federal, state or locally declared emergency, Vermont Foodbank is typically considered an essential service and emergency responder; all of its employees may be called in to perform regular or emergent duties.
Other Functions:
Other duties as assigned by the warehouse supervisor. Be available to travel to other distribution centers to assist as needed.
Skills/Qualifications:

Experience:
0-3 years of experience required. Six months’ experience in warehousing and distribution, ideally in a food- related industry, or experience in the use of material handling equipment preferred. High school diploma or GED/equivalent required.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Customer service focused. Physical stamina to lift heavy loads and remain standing for long periods and pass the post offer pre engagement test Must be capable working with a diverse group of people. Understanding of warehouse and inventory control systems and practices. Ability to work in partnership with other staff. Become certified on fork lift and power jacks. Ability to follow written and verbal direction Good reading, writing, math and verbal skills.
Language Skills:
Technical/Computer Skills:
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, and willing to learn our inventory system software.
Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:
A valid Driver’s License. 3-year motor vehicle report (MVR) showing a clean driving record. ServSafe certification or ability to obtain.
