DESCRIPTION

Job Summary Acquires, controls and distribute parts, materials, tools, and supplies necessary for the effective day to day operations of the Emergency Medical Services Department. Manages an effective parts and materials warranty program. Oversees shift operations, analyzes section operations and budget, oversees contracts and vendor compliance, manages inventory control and tracking and processes warranted parts, tools, supplies and materials Essential Functions Maintains an effective inventory system to control parts, tools, supplies and materials; determines appropriate stock levels for stock items; monitors inventory levels to ensure adequate quantities; initiates orders for new or replacement parts, tools, supplies and materials; conducts periodic inventory counts of items in stock; assesses need for new stock items; research new products and equipment; recommends addition/removal of items from inventory; coordinate responsibilities and tasks with any additional supplemental staff assigned to the operations of the supply center/warehouse.
Provides input to bid specifications and vendor selection processes for Division parts, materials, tools and supplies contracts; determines the sources to use in order to ensure the most cost-efficient parts, tools, materials and supplies are purchased for the County. Obtains price quotes or reviews bid lists and coordinates with vendors to ensure the most economical and timely sources for acquisition of quality parts, materials and supplies.
Maintains organization and cleanliness work/storage areas; organizes storage areas and assigns numbers/labels to stock items to facilitate identification and location of items; assures security of items stored in or transported to/from storage area; coordinates proper disposal of medications and biohazardous waste. Performs general housekeeping tasks associated with maintaining storage areas and work areas.
Issues the supply items from inventory into the field; maintains records of materials issued and their location.
Ensures the delivery of equipment and supplies to off-site locations as appropriate; delivers parts, tools, materials and supplies to off-site locations as appropriate; tows, or hauls vehicles/equipment into/out of shop; delivers vehicles to maintenance facilities for repair/maintenance work; delivers parts, tools, supplies and materials to employees in the field or at work sites as needed.
Receives incoming orders, packages, and deliveries; picks up parts at vendors as needed; loads/unloads materials; inspects deliveries to verify receipt of correct materials and of entire order; verifies accuracy of packing slips and receiving documents.
Processes return orders, damaged equipment, and warranty items; tracks status of returned and warranty items to ensure proper credit. As assigned to

EMS:

Maintains inventory control activities, to issue materials/drugs, to sustain inventory records and to assist in the control of daily supply center operations.
Assures appropriate fitting and issuance of uniforms, flight suits, personal protective equipment (PPE), and equipment to new EMS employees; maintains records of this initial issuance and additional allocations during their employment; ensures the return of all EMS divisional property upon employee termination.
Completes an accurate inventory of county assets including equipment, radios, and computers.
Performs as a liaison between EMS field crews and cartographic personnel by reporting new street locations to maintain up to date records.
Provides customer services; communicates with personnel via telephone and two-way radio; responds to routine questions, complaints, or requests for services; provides information and initiates resolutions.
Maintains, implements, or assists in the implementation of annual contracts and service agreements on a variety of capital equipment such as stretchers, defibrillators, etc.
Performs training at the academy in cooperation with other administrative staff including stretcher operation, purchasing procedures and fiscal responsibilities
Develops and maintains various databases (e.g., SAP) to support inventory control activities.
Ensures the weekly inventory of ambulances and depots to maintain enough to ensure adequate availability of supplies.
Aids in budgetary preparation; monitors purchases/expenditures to ensure availability of budget funds; makes recommendations for future expenditures.
Cooperates with state officers or representatives during Division inspections; maintains up to date records to comply with state inspections.
Arranges with Battalion Chiefs and Division Chiefs for the rotation of units for the inspections of stretchers, extinguishers, PPE, O2 bottles, and water rescue gear; ensures that trucks are stocked prior to their monthly rotations.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

May be required to be on twenty-four-hour call and/or regularly work on various shifts, weekends, and/or holiday as deemed necessary. Must be available during local states of emergency.
Operates and maintains cleanliness of assigned motor vehicle.
Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED required.
Pre-hospital medical experience preferred for EMS.
Three (3) years of related experience.
Fingerprinting required.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805.
