Job Summary:
The Receiving Inventory Clerk in a warehouse is responsible for managing and documenting the receipt of goods and materials. This role involves verifying incoming shipments, ensuring that products are in good condition, updating inventory systems, and maintaining an organized and efficient receiving area. The Receiving Inventory Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of inventory levels and the smooth flow of goods into the warehouse. Must have 3-5 years of experience and on-site position.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive Shipments:
Unload incoming shipments from trucks or delivery vehicles. Verify the quantity and quality of items received against purchase orders and packing slips. Inspect goods for any damage, defects, or discrepancies and report issues promptly.
Inventory Documentation:
Accurately record all received items into the inventory management system. Ensure that all received products are labeled correctly with barcodes or other identification markers. Maintain organized records of all receiving documents, including packing slips, bills of lading, and invoices.
Storage and Organization:
Organize and store received items in the correct warehouse locations according to inventory procedures. Ensure that storage areas are clean, organized, and free of clutter to optimize space and safety. Assist with the organization of the receiving area to facilitate efficient handling of incoming goods.
Communication and Coordination:
Collaborate with the warehouse team and manufacturing team to ensure smooth workflow between receiving, storage, and other operations. Communicate with the procurement team regarding any discrepancies, shortages, or issues with received shipments. Provide updates to the Director of Operations on any significant issues related to receiving.
Cycle Counts and Inventory Audits:
Assist in conducting regular cycle counts and participate in periodic physical inventory audits. Help identify and resolve any inventory discrepancies to ensure accurate stock levels.
Equipment Operation:
Safely operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move and store received goods. Perform routine checks and maintenance on receiving equipment to ensure it is in good working order.
Compliance and Safety:
Adhere to all warehouse safety guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Follow all company policies and procedures related to receiving, inventory management, and warehouse operations. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, such as those related to hazardous materials or food safety.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be 18 years of age or older
Experience:
Previous experience in a warehouse environment, particularly in receiving or inventory management within a manufacturing environment is preferred. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and or ERP systems software is a plus. A working knowledge of visual management systems such as 5S preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, and walking for extended periods. Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
Technical Skills:
