The Boeing Company Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Dreamlifter Operations has an outstanding opportunity for a qualified Air Operations Specialist Level 3 or 4 located at our Boeing South Carolina location in North Charleston, SC. The Dreamlifter team is looking for a new member with an advanced understanding of airline operations, maintenance and certification. The qualified candidate will be tasked with overseeing the overall health and reliability of the Dreamlifter fleet. Dreamlifter is a worldwide operation and this position is expected to support 24/7, as needed. Tasks to include daily activities such as aircraft maintenance reporting and operator coordination, as well as leading long term initiatives, including aircraft part and system obsolescence, part certification and flight test programs. Planning, management and onsite support of heavy maintenance checks is required and a central role of this position. The representative shall be capable of leading, coordinating and developing baseline support concepts and challenge inconsistencies in the day to day operation. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to leading integration activities and implementing proactive process improvement efforts. Acting as a liaison between the Dreamlifter team, various Boeing organizations and our operator. This role is highly collaborative and requires the ability to work effectively and develop relationships with a myriad of groups to include other Dreamlifter staff, BGS, Service Engineering, suppliers and site leaders. It is expected that the candidate have the ability and experience with presenting to executive level leadership. The candidate must be willing to respond to worldwide operational/AOG requirements in support of 24/7 operations and must be able to work with a diverse team and in an environment that supports flexible work schedules. While the candidate does spend a significant amount of time in support of site specific daily work, the candidate will also support various program activities, such as in the development of plans, schedules, and other specialized operational protocols that may apply to the program at large and global sites. Additionally, the candidate shall be able to develop financial forecasts, track capital and expense items to our budget. Airline operations experience, primarily maintenance or other technical (engineering) functions, is required. Previous airline operations, aviation licenses and maintenance experience with the 747-400 aircraft and PW4000 engines is also preferred. There is periodic domestic and international travel required to support Dreamlifter. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options
Positions Responsibilities:
Facilitates supplier/subcontractor business relationships, in-service requirements and performance to contractual obligations and expectations. Develops and participates in the implementation of supply base plans to support customer, program and commodity strategies. Analyzes and monitors supplier quality, delivery and financial performance data to identify risks, issues and opportunities. Develops mitigation plans. Identifies and participates in supplier and business improvement activities. Provides outcomes for potential integration into contracting strategies. This position supports the 787 production system mission critical need for oversight of Atlas Air (as the Dreamlifter Operator) and the maintenance of the Large Cargo Freighter. Production rate increases, aging aircraft, a new engine maintenance and overhaul plan is driving the need for more robust LCF aircraft maintenance and oversight. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): 5+ years of experience in aviation maintenance or operations. 5+ years of experience in a cross functional and collaborative environment. 5+ years or experience in reading and interpreting technical drawings and manuals related to airplane structure/systems or aircraft engines. FAA Airframe and Powerplant License (A&P) or equivalent aircraft experience Must be able to travel domestic and international periodically to support Dreamlifter Operations (up to 15% of work time) Able to work flexible hours, overtime and occasional weekends when necessary. Preferred Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience): Bachelor’s degree or higher or technical license or equivalent work or military experience. 5+ years of experience supporting Procurement and/or Contract Administration roles. 5+ years of experience working in Manufacturing or Airline Operations. 5+ years of presenting materials and facilitating meetings Experience with project management
