, Mississippi This Position is for a Warehouseman with a power company located in Picayune, MS.
Summary:
Coast Electric is looking for a Warehouseman for Pearl River County Operations department. The purpose of the position is to receive, store, and distribute material, tools and equipment within established guidelines; to maintain the warehouse in such a manner to assure easy accessibility of materials and supplies; to eliminate hazards; and to meet OSHA and Coast EPA rules and regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Warehouseman will demonstrate knowledge and abide by CEPA’s Safety Manual, regulations, and operational procedures; read work orders or requisitions for accuracy before material is released and to determine items to be gathered or distributed; and fills and distributes items to other employees or loads onto truck. The Warehouseman will unload and unpack incoming shipments; open containers using hand tools; verify material received against requisitions, shipping notices, or invoices to determine irregularities in order; convey materials and items from receiving areas to storage or to other designated areas by hand or using forklift; and maintains forklift log. The Warehouseman will know the warehouse setup and recognizes when something is out of place; will sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to size, type, product code, etc; will keep bins stocked; will prepare inventory or keep perpetual inventory records. The Warehouseman will clean warehouse by sweeping and straightening materials on shelves; break down old materials and separates according to salvage and no salvage items; load poles, single and three phase transformers off and onto trucks using a forklift; drive to other district warehouses to receive and/or deliver materials; create requisitions for major and minor material. Verifies accuracy before submitting to purchasing department; and ensure efficient operation of the warehouse in the absence of the supervisor.
Requirements and Qualifications:
A high school graduate or equivalent is required. Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver’s License. Must be able to operate a forklift and become forklift certified. Must be able obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid Certification. Must be able to obtain a valid Mississippi Class A commercial driver’s license with tractor-trailer and air brake endorsements when requested. Must be able to operate a computer. Must be able to learn and understand the proper procedure for safely loading and unloading trucks, pole trailers, and transformers. Must be knowledgeable of work order drawings. Must be knowledgeable of RUS construction specifications and the national electrical safety code. Must be knowledgeable of the proper and safe use of the tools and equipment used in the warehouse. Must have the ability to speak clearly to communicate with others. Must have the ability to deal with other employees and contractors in obtaining and relaying information in an effective and courteous manner. Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure and be able to perform the four operations with like common and decimal fractions and the ability to compute ratio, rate, and percent and perform arithmetic operations involving all American monetary units. Must have the ability to read and understand manuals, instructions, and the like. Must have the ability to prepare reports. Must be able to lift 100 lbs maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing over 50 lbs. Must be able to climb, using the feet and legs and/or hands and arms; must have sense of balance; must be able to stoop, kneel, and squat. Must be able to reach; handle; work primarily with the fingers; and feel. Must be able to push and pull a cart on wheels loaded with materials weighing over 100 lbs. Must be able to talk, hear and speak. Must be able to obtain impressions through the eyes of the shape, size, distance, motion, colo or other characteristics of objects.
