Starting at $19.00/hour A day in the life of a Warehouse Material Handler at Thorne requires:
POSITION SUMMARY
The Warehouse Material Handler follows Inventory Warehouse Department procedures and performs specific duties based on the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) for the Inventory Warehouse Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Satisfactorily performing and/or achieving the following Responsibilities are essential duties of the job.
Becomes knowledgeable of the applicable provisions of the Inventory Warehouse Department’s Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and follows them. Employee remains knowledgeable on an ongoing and timely basis as changes in the SOPs and cGMPs occur. At work as scheduled, starts work at the beginning of a shift, is on time to meetings, completes assigned tasks in a timely manner, and works overtime as required. Knows and follows the Inventory Warehouse Department policies and procedures and Thorne Research policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Pays attention to detail and completes paperwork accurately, neatly and fully. Becomes cross-trained in the Inventory Warehouse areas. Employee willingly works in different areas as assigned. Assists to perform daily inventory counts and maintains integrity of accountable supplies, ensuring quality is not compromised. Operates a wide variety of industrial warehouse equipment including a forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, ect. to store, rotate, or issue supplies on a daily basis. Becomes forklift certified. Issues the correct amount of raw material and packaging supplies, inspecting and labeling items as needed, and placing them in designated areas. Directly responsible for the cleanliness and organizational structures of the warehouse, using standard industrial practices (First In/First Out, labels facing out, items stored six inches off the floor, etc.). Responsible for the flow of warehouse activities, while adhering to OSHA and localized safety standards. Demonstrates attention to detail in all aspects of providing materials for production orders, and the accurate completion of production paperwork.
RECEIVING AREA DUTIES
Receives and verifies incoming raw materials, ensuring accepted materials are in adequate condition by observing containers, cartons, bags and/or drums. Verifies materials are intact and not punctured, defaced or contaminated. Enters the received material into the computer system. Receives and verifies packaging materials received to ensure they are correct and in usable condition. Places raw material and packaging components in holding areas and ensures proper paperwork is affixed and complete. Assists in the segregation of rejected material, returns to manufacturer and disposal of rejected raw materials. Controls security in the receiving area by prohibiting unauthorized personnel from entering. Utilizes equipment (forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, etc.) in receiving area and ensures safety is not compromised. Completes projects and responsibilities to a satisfactory end without supervision. This is a non-exempt (hourly) position.

Education:
High school diploma is required. Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
Physical Ability:
Ability to move or lift items weighing up to 55 pounds from floor to table and from table to floor, often repetitively. Prior manufacturing experience preferred Ability to work overtime as required.
