We are on the lookout for a safety-oriented person for a Yard Laborer role with us. The Yard Laborer is responsible for assisting with the movement of inventory, loading and unloading materials, operating equipment, and maintaining a clean and organized yard. This position requires adherence to all safety protocols and procedures while ensuring efficiency and accuracy in daily tasks. Responsibilities /

Job Duties:

• Safety First – Always work safely and in accordance with BR&L Safety Systems.
• Must be punctual and demonstrate consistent attendance.
• Assist in the movement of inventory in and out of the yard, including shipping and receiving.
• Build loads for delivery and transport materials to customers as needed.
• Accurately pull, stage, and load customer orders following pick tickets, work orders, or verbal instructions, ensuring compliance with QA System requirements.
• Load and unload rail and Other Track Material (OTM) efficiently and safely.
• Handle materials manually or using equipment such as forklifts, pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
• Open containers using steel cutters, crowbars, claw hammers, or other hand tools.
• Operate power hand tools, portable hydraulic and pneumatic tools.
• Operate stationary equipment such as saws, punches, or shears.
• Perform basic adjustments and repairs on equipment, including blade changes, realigning belts, and replacing rollers.
• Monitor and maintain proper fluid levels in equipment.
• Inspect work product visually or using gauges or templates, making necessary equipment adjustments to correct errors.
• Perform grading of rail and other materials based on quality and specifications.
• Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
• Keep management informed of any delays, discrepancies, or equipment issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment.

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a yard, warehouse, or industrial setting preferred.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts, hand tools, and power equipment.
• Must be able to lift and move heavy materials as required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to work in outdoor environments in various weather conditions.
• Commitment to workplace safety and company policies.

Open Schedule:

• Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4pm.
